If you are a gamer then you are more than likely familiar with Asus’ Republic of Gamers. They have been building cool gaming PC components for 10 years. To celebrate this milestone they have come out with gaming PC that takes a departure from the traditional motherboard/case relationship. The Asus ROG Avalon Gaming PC is a concept gaming rig that has separate boards for graphics, SSD, and PSU. These individual components can be swapped out easily from the front of the case. ...

What the heck is an eMac? Well it is a Curved/labs gadget that turns your iPad Pro into a desktop running OS X. The design is throwback to the 1990’s Apple iMac but uses current Apple colors (space grey, silver, gold rose gold, etc…). Pretty clever. The Curved/labs eMac also has a front camera for 3D image scanning, built-in stereo speakers, and the retro designed casing. Will this product become a reality? Time will tell. ...

Ever feel land-locked by your decision to go with a certain gaming platform? Well, Microsoft just made a big announcement that will change things in that regard. Microsoft confirmed that developers making games for Windows 10 and Xbox One will soon be able to support cross-network play. Basically this means that Xbox console owners can play online with PlayStation...

Microsoft has basically taken sharing a bit too far. Windows 10 comes defaulted with a scary and stupid feature that shares your WiFi passwords (encrypted) with your Outlook.com, Skype, and Facebook contacts. Not sure how this one made it from a board meeting to reality. Yikes. “Give and get Internet access without seeing shared passwords. You’ll get connected to Wi’Fi networks your contacts share, and they’ll get connected to networks you share.” Imagine that. A “Facebook” friend now has your...

Sure, we are barely getting used to 4K resolution and there isn’t even a ton of 4K content just yet. But it is coming. In fact, there are plenty of super high resolution videos on YouTube now. Apple, never content to rest, has just released their 27-inch Retina 5K iMac models (prices start at $1,999). Swing by an Apple store and check them out. They are a thing of beauty.   ...

Clever. The folks at Refold, of New Zealand, have created a sitting and standing desk that is 100% recyclable, strong, and lightweight (compared to wood). They like to call it affordable but that is where I disagree. $250 for a cardboard folding desk? Ouch! Either way the product is pretty darn cool. The Refold desk comes in 3 sizes for the stand-up version (100, 105, and 110cm) and is made of 7mm thick cardboard. There is also a standard sitting desk as well. The desk is made of four main pieces that go together in about 2 minutes....

Microsoft is working to secure their Windows 10 computers later this year (2015) and announced that this new OS will have support for some more secure log-in options. Among those log-in options are fingerprint, facial, and iris recognition. Of course it is up to the hardware manufacturers to add these sensors. Microsoft Windows 10 will have a framework called “hello” which will allow users to enroll their face, fingers, or eyes depending on the onboard sensors. More details after the break.

I am not going to get into the discussion of whether the USB ports should be on the front, side, or back of the iMac. I think it is a preference thing. If you want USB ports on the front you have the option of adding a single port with the iMac Jimi USB Extension or now you can add 4- ports with the Satechi Aluminum Clamp Hub.

If you have ever used canned air you know how useful it is for cleaning things like computers and keyboards. The bad part of canned air is the dangerous chemicals (Difluoroethane, trifluoroethane & tetrafluoroethane) that aren’t good for our environment or our health. Also, you have to keep buying the cans over-and-over as they run out rather quickly. Enter the Hurricane 2 Canless Air System (Special Edition) which is basically a rechargeable battery operated...

The Chromebox M004U desktop is tiny at just 1.75 x 5 x 5 inches.  It looks more like a Roku 3 or an Apple TV than a computer.   Considering the size and price (starting at $174) the Asus Chromebox M004U is worth a look.  Read on for a detailed review of the Asus Chromebox M004U. ...
