The TV Hat is functional… but beyond that it is close to a gag gift.  Guaranteed to repel the opposite sex while you watch TV.  Watch the video to get the full picture… at least their video is good (they get the humor of the product).

Viewsonic is getting serious about the portable media player business with it’s latest gadget the MovieBook VPD550T.  The VPD550T comes with a 5-inch LCD touch screen (800×480-pixel resolution), 8GB of memory, microSD expansion slot, and an HDMI output capable of full 1080p.  Read on for more details.

Because of the hefty price tags attached to most portable media players (Archos, Cowon, etc…)… sales have been slow.  Honestly, how many people do you know that have a portable media player?  Looks like Viewsonic may have figured this out with their $199 price point.  The MovieBook VPD550T will support  DAT, MPG, MPEG, VOB, MP4, MOV, AVI, DVD Video, ASF, WMV, MKV, TS, RM/RMVB, MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC ,OGG, FLAC, APE, AC3, and DTS formats.  Image and ebook content will also be able to be viewed on this gadget.  Expect battery life to be about 20 hours of audio and 4 hours of video.

Until my iPhone or iPod gets 1080p this isn’t a bad addition to the gadget pile.  The VPD550T is expected to hit in late March or early April.

The Philco PC, designed by SchultzeWORKS, looks like the TV’s of the 1950’s.  The mouse looks a bit steampunk and keyboard the keyboard looks like an old typewriter.  Still waiting for pricing and availability.  Video of the PhilcoPC after the break.

Now we are talking… I love my desktop… main reason is that I have dual screens and hate working on single screen systems now.  When I go home and use my laptop I am always missing the second screen.  Sure I could connect an external monitor to my laptop… but that defeats the purpose of a portable computer. 

Enter the Kohjinsha dual screen notebook computer. The Kohjinsha 2 screen laptop has dual 10.2-inch LCD screens.  The best part is

Fring has developed an application for the iPhone that allows for video calls.  Neat idea, but won’t fully take off until the iPhone gets a front facing camera (assuming that will even happen).  Not much fun having a one-way video call.

If you are looking for a small pico projector for your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPod video and don’t care about the cost you may want to check out the Sparkz projector/dock.  The Sparkz will project up to 60-inches, has 640×480 resolution, and stereo speakers.  Sounds good but it sure doesn’t come cheap at $495.  Video of the Sparkz in action after the break.
