Parrot Anafi DJI competitor

Finally a drone worth comparing/competing with the DJI models (Spark, Mavic Air). The Parrot Anafi is a great drone that is both portable and capable. Instead of talking to all of the points with this drone I will highlight some of the cool/new features and some of the negatives (not too many).

New stuff/Cool stuff –
– 4K HDR camera with 2.8x lossless digital zoom
– 180-degree tilting gimbal
– No props in the video frame (problem with DJI copters)
– 25 minute flight time
– Quiet prop wash for quieter flights
– Automated flight modes for following objects, etc.
– Ultra portable and just 320g
– USB-C charging means no more bulky chargers
$699 price tag

Negatives –
– The “real life” range isn’t as good as the DJI
– No obstacle avoidance

Great video comparing specs/usability with that of the DJI Mavic Air after the break. (more…)

Let me just get this part out of the way, I am currently a fan of Google’s Nest line of cameras. They are proven, have fair priced recording options, and work outdoors (the outdoor version of course). That doesn’t mean there isn’t room for more competitors. While good, the Nest cameras have plenty of places they can improve. Enough on that for now. Amazon is having their 2018 prime day sale and have cut the cost of their Amazon Cloud Cam...

polimaster PM1208M

With the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster still fresh in our minds some folks want to know if, and when, they come into contact with radioactive material. This watch is about 1/3 the cost of typical radiation detecting watches at $320.

The Polimaster PM1208M continuously monitors radiation and counts radiation dose exposure. The watch will alert an audible alarm when it detects high radiation emissions. It also tells time with a Swiss Ronda 763 quartz movement.

While Apple might not be first to the show, they are often worth the wait. If you want a smart speaker that sounds good and doesn’t pimp out your data – check out the Apple HomePod. Not only is it one of best sounding of the bunch, it looks pretty nice to boot. The HomePod launched without stereo pairing and multi-room support (AirPlay 2) but has both now. Yay. When you add HomePod to more than one room, the speakers communicate with each other through...

Currently there is more unknown about the Cleo Drone than is known. Release date? Price? Specs? You get the idea. However, the drone looks pretty cool in the fact that the blades are completely protected and that the size will fit in the pocket. I personally would spend some time modding mine to look like a sprinkled doughnut since it is already 80-percent of the way there. They are calling it an indoor drone. I suspect this is the case because it won’t...

I had no idea Epson (the printer people) started making FPV Smart Glasses designed for the drone market. In this case they are made specifically for the DJI line of drones. And from a light dive into the reviews it turns out they are pretty darn good. Unlike the bulky DJI Goggles, the Epson BT-300FPV glasses do not block your line of site. The Epson DJI goggles come preloaded...

Just like cameras, the best drone is the one you have with you. Most of them tend to be sitting at home due to the lack of portability. While DJI has made strides with their Spark, the controller is another item you have to lug around. While I am pretty confident that if I could fast forward a few more years the technology will be better, smaller, and cheaper. For now we have just a few high quality smaller options. The latest GDU quadcopter, the

Don’t feel like wiring up a new doorbell but need to add extra receivers? Or just have a tricky install that you would like to avoid. This wireless doorbell kit comes with 2 receivers and 1 transmitter. Pretty standard, but there is more. The receivers are paired and relay the wireless signal for longer ranges. For example; you could have one receiver in the house and one in the garage. Never miss the door again. Another cool feature is the doorbell button – it never needs batteries or wiring. The doorbell uses a micro-power...

Shoei Neotec II

If you have ever ridden motorcycles in a group setting you know how fun, and frustrating, it can be. It is fun because you get to share the ride experience with friends and are more visible riding in a group. It is a bit frustrating at times when you are in the middle of the pack and need to stop for a restroom break and have no way of communicating with other riders around you.

One way to solve this is to bolt on a SENA Bluetooth Helmet Headset onto your existing helmet. Not the most elegant helmet addition, but it works. Well the folks at SENA and SHOEI have joined forces for a seamless helmet communication system, the Neotec II Helmet.

SENA’s exclusive SRL Communication System is tailored specifically to the NEOTEC II helmet. When installed, the SRL is virtually undetectable from the outside of the helmet, and functions with a simple 3-button control. Chat with other riders via bluetooth intercom, listen to music, hear turn-by-turn GPS directions, and much more with the SRL. Learn more about the SRL here.

The NEOTEC II is an every-occasion helmet with the adaptability to excel no matter where your next journey takes you. The convenient “flip-up” versatility of a true two-in-one helmet combined with next-level aerodynamics, an internal sun shield, Pinlock® EVO fog-resistant system, and the ability to seamlessly integrate with the all-new SENA SRL (SHOEI Rider Link) Communication System, the NEOTEC II is the pinnacle of modular helmet design for today’s hybrid motorcyclists.

KNZ GoDuo Stereo Bluetooth Magnetic Speakers Split

Another bluetooth speaker? Sure, as long as it innovates and improves on the past generations. The KNZ GoDuo bluetooth speaker is pretty unique which says something in this crowded space. For example, the GoDuo’s are built tough, connect for easy carry, can be separated for wider stereo sound, and have magnetic bases. Video of the KNZ GoDuo speakers in action after the break. (more…)
