Looks like ZMP is still pushing the robotic minicar idea… their latest is the RoboCar G which is a one-seater fully electric car.  Ummm… isn’t this basically a golf cart?  Sorta, but is super tech’d out with stereo cameras, laser rangefinders, radar, sonar, and total wireless computer controls.  The car is so high tech that the original customers target are hospitals and other public facilities.

Personal sex gadgets for women have been around for more a long time and they have evolved and improved over the years.  And for some reason, women’s sex devices (toys?) have become pretty much accepted and are no longer looked down upon.  However, men’s sex devices have been treated as a major joke.  The joke is usually a hideous blow-up doll or something similar.  Don’t get me wrong… when I think of a mans sex toy I giggle and wonder who the hell uses these things.

Well… the world’s largest porno video supplier, Adult Entertainment Broadcast Network (AEBN) is tackling this issue with the RealTouch – “the world’s first virtual sex device for men”.

Not much to say here… this is a video of a cat vs. a robot.  Who will win this short but epic battle?

Two things I love coming together, like Reese’s peanut butter cups, the iPhone and an RC Helicopter.  Expect to see the iPhone controlled Parrot AR Drone helicopter in Q4 of 2010.  The best part, other than the fact it is controlled by the iPhone, is that the copter has two cameras on board for shooting video.  The front camera shoots 640×480 @ 15fps and the bottom camera shots 480×320 @ 60fps.

I love robot vacuums… and have two currently (a roomba and a Metapo CleanMate)… they are pretty similar in that they bump around the house and eventually clean most of the rooms floor.  Well it looks like a new competitor is about to enter the space (in Feb 2010).  The Neato XV-11 robot vacuum is a bit different in that it has a room positioning system with lasers.  The lasers help map the room an avoid obstacles.  Expect to pay around $400 for the Neato XV-11.  More pictures and video after the break.

Greg Schroll is a crafty fellow, you can tell by his shirt… and his home made gyroscope powered spherical robot which can navigate some pretty rough terrain.  Read on for more details and video.

Greg Schroll, a graduate student at Colorado State, has developed a spherical robot that uses gyroscopes instead of a movable mass for both drive power and steering. The gyros just have to sit there, and depending on which way they’re being spun, they exert torque on the robot to move it forward or turn it. The big advantage to this is that the torque exerted by the gyros increases as they spin faster, meaning that more powerful motor does increase the power of the robot, giving it the ability to literally jump out of holes:

The folks at Stratosphere in Las Vegas have built a ride named Insanity which hangs you 64-feet off the side of the building putting you about 909-feet above the ground.� That is truly nuts.� See this scary Stratosphere ride in action after the break.

Nissan’s updated BR23C robot car, also known as Eporo, will now come with a couple of laser range finders that were specially positioned so that one is able to obtain a field of view that is 288 degrees wide. The reason behind this would be to merge information concerning the environment alongside its sensory perception of other robots within the vicinity to make changes in directions as and when necessary. According to Nissan, this technology which it has dubbed �Safety Shield� might even see action in automobiles to prevent accidents. Those who will be attending CEATEC later next week (we’ll be there!) can have a closer look, and perhaps, a demonstration.

The smart kids at Lockheed Martin have created a remote controlled monocopter which reminds me of the whirlipods that fall from maple tree’s. 

This is SAMARAI, a UAV that Lockheed Martin has been working on based on a monocopter platform. A monocopter is like a helicopter, except that the entire vehicle consists of a single rotating airfoil, making them somewhat impractical for manned flight. And, from the looks of things, more than a little dangerous, although the project was named SAMARAI not after its efficiency at decapitations but after samara, which are those monocopter seed pod things that fly down off of trees.
