We always knew that the solid state hard drives (SSD Drives) would come down in price… it just took longer than we expected. The OCZ Onyx Series 32GB Drive (2.5-inch) is going to be under $100… a first for SSD drives. The OCZ Onyx isn’t the fastest drive on the block at 125MB/s read and 70MB/s write but still faster than a record player style drive.

Speed up your old laptop with an affordable SSD drive… no more worry of shocking the drive with bumps and drops, longer battery life, and less heat.

We are big fans of the TiVo interface and ease of use. Not much has changed with TiVo (sans sharing and some web additions) until now with the all-new TiVo interface TiVo Premiere ($299.99 to $499.99 for XL). The new TiVo Premiere interface loves HDTV, is ready to connect to the web, and can search across many platforms including YouTube, the internet, cable, Netflix, Blockbuster, Amazon On Demand, and all new movie and TV collections. The interface/database is improved as well with the ability to get more info on shows or actors by clicking. Additionally you can now see how much space is left on your TiVo and have access to FrameChannel and Pandora Radio.

The new TiVo comes in standard Premiere and and XL model. They both offer HD recording, an E-SATA port for external storage, 1080p video output, and a multistream CableCARD slot. The XL version has a higher capacity (from 45 hours up to 150 hours) and THX certification.

The PEZ Dispenser looking, novelty USB Flash drive is pretty cool and comes with a removable head protecting the actual USB connector. Surprising bonus, there is a little light inside the figure that blinks during file transfers and file removals. These little dudes are solidly built and actually stand on their own two feet. Oh and if for some reason you aren’t a Stormtroopers fan, maybe because they offended your family on Tatooine, these also come in Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Yoda flavors. Additionally, connecting the HDD Copy Cruiser Mini to a computer via USB 2.0 gives instant, hot-swappable access to up to two hard disk drives at a time.

Concerts and sporting events over priced drinks got you trying to sneak your booze inside? Might be a bit easier with a Disposable Flask. You can get a set of 4 for $9.95, they are 7.5 ounces, freezable, reusable, have airtight lids, and come with a mini funnel for filling. I like em.

I remember when SSD drives were just a dream… and shortly after made it to a whopping 64GB’s. Now the SSD market is getting closer to reality with high capacity drives like the 1TB OCZ Colossus 3.5-inch SSD SATA drive. The drive is fast at 260MB/s of max read/write and sustained write speeds of 220MB/s. The bad part, no surprises here, is the cost… $3,400. I imagine the cost will come down… or only 3 guys will buy this thing… and I won’t be one of them.

Web cams and IP cameras have come down in price while quality has improved. The problem is that the webcam/IP camera has never really had a great security program to make them useful outside of video chat. That may have just changed with Vitamin D’s security software.

Vitamin D Video detects people and moving objects in video streams for security and monitoring purposes. It runs on a PC or Mac, and uses off-the-shelf USB webcams or network (IP) cameras.
For the first time, professional performance with real-time alerts is available to everyone.

Not sure how much the product will cost but it is free while in Beta until January 31st, 2010. Video of Vitamin D security software in action after the break.
