Psalm 27:4 Is This The One Thing You Have Desired Of The Lord - To Seek Him And Behold His Beauty And Inquire?
in His temple? It is for me. Feel free to share how this verse ministers to you.
Answer:I love this Psalm and this verse, it means a great deal to me.
Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
" One thing " These words bless me because it is a singleness of heart, one purpose, his greatest desire above all else. It says he desired this of the Lord, showing how much he yearned for it, thirsted after it, and he goes on to say " that will I seek after ", showing that he is speaking by faith by saying " that will I seek after " he is not only speaking for the present but the future too, no matter how long he lives he will pursue this, and his heart is purposed to do this, northing wavering and holding northing back. He was seeking the Lord with his whole heart.
" that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, "
I see this as eternal life, To dwell in the house of the Lord is to live with the Lord, to be in His presense and I believe " all the days of my life " meant not only here in this world but for eternity.
" To behold the beauty of the LORD, " Praise God! To behold Him!
To see the Lord and look on Him! How could theree be any lack or need for anything? We have a blessed promise that we will see His face ( Rev. 22:4 ) To look on Him, is more than words could express.
To look on His glory, my Saviour, my God, my Fathere, to see His beauty and splendor!
To see face to face the One who died for me, the One who loves me so much, and I love so much, it is my heart's desire and I wait with great anticipation. When you love someone your heart goes toward them, and you desire to be with them and to see them, to see the Lord's face to see His expressions to see Him in all His glory! Praise God! What a day that will be!
" And to enquire in his temple. " I see this as seeing the deep things of God in His presense, to worship the Lord, to be at His feet, to ask about , to search out, to see Him as He is.
If we are speaking the Lord will also answer, and to hear His voice speaking to us in such a way we haven't heard before, face to face!
Praise God! We know in part, and see in part but on the day when the part is gone and we will know completely and see Him face to face, what a day!
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
I do desire these things, I believe all of God's children do, to live with
Him forever, to behold Him face to face, to hear His voice, to worship Him for eternity I do desire this with all my heart.
Thanks for asking this,
with much love and sincerity in Christ,
andrew
How Many Know This Song From The Bible In Psalm 27:5?
In the time of trouble
He will hide me in His pavilion
in the secret of His tabernacle

Then shall my head be lifted up
above my enemies

In the secret of His tabernacle

I will sing, yea I will sing
praises unot my God

Have you heard or sung the one inspired by Isaiah 40:31?
Verse ~ "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Song ~
They that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount on wings like eagles.
They shall run and not be weary;
They shall walk and not faint.
Teach me, Lord;
Teach me, Lord, to wait.
*EDIT*
You're welcome. The church we went to before we moved sang a LOT of songs with words pretty much diretcly from the Bible. I should go dig up those old song sheets....

Answer:theree is no evidence to support the god hypothesis
god is imagainary, so how can it possibly lead or protetc you
the psalm 23 & psalm 27 were written thousands of years ago by an uneducated pack of sheepherders in order to get as many people as possible to join their cult (ie religion)

Watchtower Teaching, Colossians 1:15 And The Use Of "prototokos" In Psalm 89:27(LXX)..? ?
The Watchtower argue that the Greek term "prototokos" (Eng - "firstborn") applied to Jesus in Colossians 1:15, is to be understood in the sense of "first-created", thus denying His deity.
However, Psalm 89:27 (88:28, LXX) in the Septuagaint, applies "prototokos" (also rendered "firstborn") to David, contextually indicating his PREEMINENCE, with whichh the following quote from Watchtower literature agreees,
"David, who was the youngest son of Jesse, was called by Jehovah the 'first-born', DUE TO JEHOVAH'S ELEVATION OF DAVID TO THE PREEMINENT POSITION IN GOD'S CHOSEN NATION and his making a covenant with David for a dynasty of kings(Psalm 89:27). In this position DAVID PROPHETICALLY REPRESENTED THE MESSIAH." Aid to Bible Understanding, Pg.584(caps for emphasis).
So, according to the Watchtower, does David's prophetic representation of Messiah as "prototokos" refer to being
FIRST-CREATED
or
PREEMINENT?
Your thoughts, please?
Thanks in advance for your time.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Re your comment,
"So you challenge this based on the greek speaking Jews translating a Hebrew word to Greek?"
Are you then implying that we cannot trust the authority of the Septuagaint, the same translation from whichh the New Testament writers often translated?
Such an argument would most certainly undermine the veracity & authority of the NT.
Please reconsider your position.
A SINGLE application of "prototokos" in realtion to preeminence, in biblical OR secular writings, is evidence enough to provide (at least) some argument againstt the Watchtower interpretation of Colossians 1:15.
In regard to the Hebrew -
Please consider,
Exodus 4:22,
This is what Jehovah has said: "Israel is my son, my FIRSTBORN." (NWT, caps mine)
Did Jacob's birth precede Esau's?
Was the nation of Israel the first one to be established in the earth?
Not at all.
The nation of Israel was exalted to PREEMINENCE by God.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
In regard to the firstborn "being part of a group" -
Whethere or not the Greek term, "prototokos" intrinsically possessed a partitive semantic value, and that the corretc interpretation of prototokos pasies kitseos in Col 1:15 should be rendered as, "firstborn OF all creation", is up for debate.
I am not a linguist. However, even IF the corretc conclusion to be drawn from Col 1:15, is that Christ is a PART OF creation, this presents no theological problem for orthodox Christians.
We believe that not only did the Word become flesh - that God "tabernacled" in a human "tent" - as per John 1:14, but we also believe that He is, IN HEAVEN, still fully human (albeit in a glorified resurretcion body), as well as DIVINE.
Hence, speaking from heaven in His post-resurretcion state, the Lord Jesus refers to Himself as,
"..the root and the OFFSPRING of DAVID." (Rev. 22:16, caps mine)
See also 1 Timothy 2:5. Note the TENSE.

In regard to Proverbs 8:22, whichh you claim, "speaks of Jesus" -
I disagreee.
This is clearly a PERSONIFICATION of God's wisdom, contained within a book whichh is not primarily a doctrinal work.
Among the numerous OT passages applied to the Lord Jesus in the NT (most notably includeing Psalm 102:25-27 in Hebrews 1:10-12), any mention of Proverbs 8 is conspicuous by it's absense.
If you are to be consistent in applying all that is written of "wisdom" to the Lord Jesus, then logically, you would also have to concede that "shrewdness" is a person, wouldn't you?
"I, wisdom, I HAVE RESIDED WITH SHREWDNESS..." (Proverbs 8:12, NWT)
It's the literary device of PERSONIFICATION, rutch.
Please examine the scriptures prayerfully, without WT literature.

Thanks for your furthere comments.
I am well aware of the Lord's pre-existence as per John 1:1, thanks.
Revelation 22:16 ISN'T prophetic, rutch. The Lord Jesus is speaking FROM HEAVEN, and in His POST-RESURRECTION state. Also, the Greek is in the PRESENT tense.
Regarding 1 Corinthians 1:24, rutch -
Your position on this is one shared by a number of professing Christians outside of the Watchtower. However, with all due respetc, this view is incorretc.
IN CONTEXT, this verse realtes to the PREACHING of faith in Christ crucified, as God's means of salvation, contrasted with the worldly wisdom of the pagan world.
Please read from 1 Cor. 1:17 through to the verse you mentioned, and hopefully, you'll see what I'm talking about.
The use of "prototokos" here in the LXX, shows that the word *can* be used to signify PREEMINENCE.
A fact to whichh Watchtower literature clearly testifes.
Answer:Watchtower or not, firstborn in this verse means preeminent. :o)
We also know this because:
v18 says:
...that in all things he might have the preeminence.
EDIT... also when you read:
...the firstborn of every creature:
For by him were all things created...
It's obvious from the context that he is the CREATOR and not the creature... unless of course you have a NWT that adds the word [othere] whichh of course is not in the manuscripts.....

Bruckner: Missa No. 2; Psalm 150; Te Deum Average Rating: 5.0 Price: $18.98 Manufacturer: Hanssler Classics UPC: 040888811923 Helmuth Rilling has never made a finer record than this. The performance of the Te Deum is especially remarkable. The tempos are perfect- -grand but propulsive--and the chorus is ideally balanced against the orchestra, permitting an unusually high number of words to be clearly heard. Although his symphonies are famously long, Bruckner's vocal works are all fairly brief. The Mass No. 2, for choir and wind ensemble, has a spiritual purity about it that is absolutely unique in 19th-century music; and it's over with in about half an hour. Finally, the jubilant Psalm 150 is as extrovert and the Mass is intimate, and makes a superb conclusion to a disc that gives you the best of Bruckner as a choral composer, in performances that are second to none. -- David Hurwitz
