FBI GPS Tracker On Students Car

Look, as much as I love the fact the our government is taking away our rights and privacy in a big/fast way, this one is a bit funny.  Rhymes with “Police State".

A 20-year-old US (born in America) college student, Yasir Afifi, takes his Lincoln LS car to a mechanic.  When the mechanic puts the car up on the lift, he notices a strange electronic device with a large cylindrical tube and a small box with an antenna.  Yasir's friend took pictures of the GPS tracker and put them on the web which prompted the nice FBI folks, and some police, to visit his apartment.  They were a tad upset and said, “We’re going to make this much more difficult for you if you don’t cooperate.”

The device was a Guardian ST820 GPS tracking device made by Cobham and is in their Orion line of GPS trackers.

And for those of you who don't know, it is legal for the FBI to place GPS trackers on anyone’s car, even without a warrant.  I feel so safe and protected.
