Microsoft Kinect Says, “You Should Not Expect Any Level Of Privacy”

Kinect Hot Girl

In the age of the Patriot Act and privacy abuse from companies like Facebook, Apple, Google, AT&T, Twitter, and countless others there is no real privacy expectation, but the Microsoft Kinect takes it to a whole new level. The jaded and the bored, eager for a new fix in entertainment couldn't wait to hook up a "cool" new device in their living rooms, the heart of their busy households. A device that comes equipped with a RGB camera, an infrared camera, five microphones, and a motorized subsystem. A device that would have made the ruling class of Oceania or the any other government surveillance Gestapo jizz themselves. Of course there is some feeble reassurance from some spokeshole at Micro$oft, "By default we don’t listen or look at anything". Well shit, that's good enough for everyone, right? Who really reads to boring fine print anyway, you know, the tedious Terms of Service crap like:

“You should not expect any level of privacy concerning your use of the live communication features (for example, voice chat, video and communications in live-hosted gameplay sessions) offered through the Service”

Huh-whattaf*ck-was-that-all-about?!

And what's this:

"(Microsoft) expressly authorize and consent to us accessing or disclosing information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to: (a) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of Microsoft, our partners, or our customers, including the enforcement of our agreements or policies governing your use of the Service; or (c) act on a good faith belief that such access or disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, customers, or the public."

Aww come on, stop being paranoid – go play and dance with the Big Brother. Just don't say any trigger words. After all , if you've done nothing wrong, you got nothing to hide,

  1. I agree – I don’t really like the mic or camera on my laptop either. There are exploits with Flash and our gov is a bit overzealous these days.
