I am usually not a fan of local or federal cameras erasing any/all privacy that we have left but this one makes sense. The next time you are a passenger in a vehicle, study the drivers around you. There are a shocking number of phone-addicted drivers on the road today. Australia has launched traffic cameras that catch drivers using their phones and promptly sends them a ticket in the mail. Video of this PSA after the break.

Aston Martin Brough Superior AMB 001 Motorcycle Right Side

What the heck is going on? Aston Martin teamed up with Brough Superior to make a motorcycle? Harley Davidson is making e-bikes? Time to short some stocks. Read on for a bit more on this craziness. (more…)

Now that the RC quadcopters and drones have proven so stable and reliable, they are growing in size and carrying humans. It was only a matter of time. Heck, the Tesla’s are basically giant versions of the electric RC cars I play with from time-to-time. Looks like these coaxial octocopter versions (and quadcopter styles) will be hitting the sky to race within the next 18-months if all goes to plan. Airspeeder plans to make these retro-looking copters for racing...

2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray Red Side

The infamous Chevrolet Corvette has had a ton of design changes over its lifetime. Some were good and some were downright ugly. The 2020 Corvette C8 Stingray, IMHO, is one of the good years. The engineers at Chevy didn’t reuse and older designs and basically started from scratch.

The 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray is the first mid-engine Corvette. The new 6.2L LT2 V8 can be viewed through a rear hatch window and puts out 495-horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. All this goodness can be had for under $60k. More pictures after the break. (more…)

I am not a fan of the “new” Mini Cooper’s. My experience is that Mini Coopers are happiest when they are at the mechanic getting repaired. However, I do like the rally version that was built by X-raid and JCW (John Cooper Works). This mashup has been in the works for quite some but major changes have occured recently, like switching from 4×4 to rear-wheel drive and engine updates. Today’s MINI JCW Buggy retains the BMW Group supplied six-cylinder diesel engine used for the 2018 Dakar, but the turbocharger system...

Tesla Sentry Mode Cookie Monster

The recently released, and already updated, Tesla Sentry Mode is a security feature for its EVs that uses the front-facing dash cam and the side cameras to record and dissuade break-ins. Apparently, every car should have a sentry mode as Tesla vehicles have already caught thieves and people damaging cars.

The latest story from ABC 7 news, is about San Francisco-based Jed Franklin and how his Tesla has already helped to make an arrest. He received an alert on his phone, via the Tesla app, that said his Sentry Mode had been activated. Upon arriving at his car he found a broken window. After downloading the cars security camera video he saw a clear image of the suspect’s face and the license plate of his car. This evidence was handed over to the police, who subsequently made an arrest.

The more this type of thing happens, and makes the news, the more criminals will take note. Tesla break-ins may become a thing of the past. Check out a few of the Tesla “caught in the act” videos after the break. (more…)
