Tesla just released a new “portable” wall charger. It looks similar to the hard wired version but comes with a NEMA 14-50 plug. This new charger can charge 25% faster than the Gen 2 Mobile Connector which comes with the car (this assumes you have 50-amps at the wall). It will work with the Model S, Model X, and Model 3 vehicles. I like the idea of this little charge because it bridges the gap between home and portable use as most folks have a NEMA 14-50 port for their electric clothes dryer. This would also allow Tesla owners...

Yep, that beauty pictured above started off as a gas powered 1967 Mustang. Now, it is more modern than most cars on the road. This car came to life from a Russian EV startup, Aviar Motors, and they are taking a 100kWh Tesla battery and running gear and placing it in an aluminum and carbon fiber frame/chassis based on the 67 Mustang fastback. This means that you will get 315 miles of range, 840 hp, 155 mph top speed, and a 0 to 60 mph time of just 2.2 seconds. They even used the Tesla screen and door handles. Pretty impressive work...
This crazy looking vehicle, drives like a normal car, but also has robotic legs for walking. The Hyundai Elevate was designed for search and rescue missions following natural disasters. The Hyundai elevate is what is dubbed as an Ultimate Mobility Vehicle (UMV). Watch the Elevate traverse some crazy terrain after the break. (more…)
This awesome video shows the 2020 Tesla Roadster taking test riders on accelerations runs. For reference the Tesla Roadster can go from 0-60 mph in 1.8 or 1.9 seconds. Wild. That is the amazing part, the bummer part is the price tag ($200,000 to $250,000).
On to the video of people cursing as they are pinned to the back of their seats.s (more…)
Who knew there was a tiny Jeep copycat running around? Not I. The Mahindra Roxor lives somewhere between an old Jeep CJ and a UTV. It is made in India by Mahindra which has been making vehicles for over 70-years. In fact Mahindra makes things like airplanes, tractors, and cars.
The Roxor is already for sale in the USA starting at around $15,000. The Roxor is not street legal, but either is a UTV (typically). The Jeeps are assembled in the US from CKD (completely knocked down) kits shipped from India. Read on for more details, pictures, and video. (more…)
Thank goodness for these security cameras near the Little Avenue railway train tracks in Barrie, Ontario. These security cameras catch a few angles of this Tesla Model S getting some serious height and distance. The 46-year old driver and his passenger were treated for minor injuries, and the drier was charged with unsafe driving. The crash (off-camera) happened after landing and crashing into the Assikinack Public School parking lot. Full videos after the break. (more…)
The Ford Raptor is a pretty great (and expensive) truck in its own right. But bigger is
always usually better. This beautiful beast is the DEFCO BA350. It is a one-ton diesel truck with Raptor looks and DNA, and yes “BA” does stand for bad ass.
The truck manages to look like a Ford Raptor at the one-ton size with proper scale. They achieved this with massive raptor styled fenders, 43- inch military-grade tires, and beefy King suspension. There are a few options available for the BA350; Stage 1, 1.5, 2, and 3. Check out videos and more details after the break (and a link for a chance to win your own BA350 truck). (more…)
The Gibbs Terraquad Amphibious UTV plays well on land and in the water. In fact it can go 50mph on land and 45mph on the water. Very respectable speeds for both.
The downfall of such a Swiss Army Knife style of vehicle is that it won’t be a “great” UTV or boat. It will be good enough, however. It has tiny tires and just rear wheel drive. In other words, don’t expect to conquer the rubicon trail in this amphibious UTV.
It would be perfect for getting around a ranch, trailer park on the river, or the retirement community on the lake. Video and pictures of the Gibbs Terraquad after the break. (more…)
Sure, the rear haunch looks like a 2017 Camaro but that doesn’t take anything away from this new Aston Martin. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is wrapped in carbon fiber bits and makes more downforce than any other production Aston, all with out a spoiler. This car is built to replace the Vanquish S and does so at 3,732-lbs with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that puts out 715-hp. Torque is at 664 lb-ft (900 Nm). This beast of an engine is mated with an 8-speed transmission controlled by a ZF paddle shift system. Top speed...
The smart kids at Carnegie Mellon Universities National Robotics Engineering Center (CMU NREC) have reinvented the wheel. They totally went agains the grain and made a circular wheel that can convert to a triangular track. Video of this crazy shape-shifting tire after the break. (more…)
