The team at Boosted Boards have added a new mode of transport to their fleet of electrified skateboards – an electric scooter. This new scooter is known as the Boosted Rev. The Boosted Rev is built from the ground up in typical Boosted fashion. They won’t be the cheapest electric scooter on the market, but they will arguably be one of the best. Think Apple of the electric scooter and skateboard market. The Boosted Rev has...

I am not a fan of the “new” Mini Cooper’s. My experience is that Mini Coopers are happiest when they are at the mechanic getting repaired. However, I do like the rally version that was built by X-raid and JCW (John Cooper Works). This mashup has been in the works for quite some but major changes have occured recently, like switching from 4×4 to rear-wheel drive and engine updates. Today’s MINI JCW Buggy retains the BMW Group supplied six-cylinder diesel engine used for the 2018 Dakar, but the turbocharger system...

Tesla Sentry Mode Cookie Monster

The recently released, and already updated, Tesla Sentry Mode is a security feature for its EVs that uses the front-facing dash cam and the side cameras to record and dissuade break-ins. Apparently, every car should have a sentry mode as Tesla vehicles have already caught thieves and people damaging cars.

The latest story from ABC 7 news, is about San Francisco-based Jed Franklin and how his Tesla has already helped to make an arrest. He received an alert on his phone, via the Tesla app, that said his Sentry Mode had been activated. Upon arriving at his car he found a broken window. After downloading the cars security camera video he saw a clear image of the suspect’s face and the license plate of his car. This evidence was handed over to the police, who subsequently made an arrest.

The more this type of thing happens, and makes the news, the more criminals will take note. Tesla break-ins may become a thing of the past. Check out a few of the Tesla “caught in the act” videos after the break. (more…)

Last night Tesla unveiled their latest creation – the Tesla Model Y. In what looks like an offspring of the Model 3 and X, the Y is aimed at the mid-sized crossover SUV market. The interior is similar to the Model 3 with clean and elegant lines and few distractions outside of the single 15-inch screen. There is seating for up to seven people, 66 cubic feet of cargo space, and range options from 230 to 300 miles depending on the specific model. The 0-60 times...

lazareth-lm-847-v8-motorcycle

This insanely beautiful brut of a motorcycle is built in the least likely of places – France. No offense to the French but you have to admit this is more US type of nonsense than FR. Either way, it is quite impressive and a work of engineering magic.

Lazareth has been making one-off motorcycles for quite a while, like this V8-powered LM 847 which uses an engine from a Maserati GranTurismo. That means you get a 4.7-liter engine that makes 470 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque – in a motorcycle. The Lazareth LM 847 can get to 90 mph in just a few seconds. Video of this bad boy after the break. (more…)

Volkswagen - Autosalon Genf 2019

Apparently Tesla put the entrenched car makers on notice and they all woke up from a deep slumber. Now, just about every car manufacturer is working on an EV. In Volkswagen’s case they are working on quite a few.  Most will be… boring. This one, however, isn’t boring at all and is dubbed the ID. BUGGY.

This electric VW dune buggy will be based on their new modular electric vehicle platform called MEB. This electric buggy is inspired by the VW-powered buggies of the 60’s and 80’s. The ID. BUGGY will be a rear wheel drive with a 62 KwH battery with a 155 mile range. More pictures of this electric VW buggy after the break. (more…)

Swind E Classic Electric Mini Cooper

First off – I love the classic Mini Cooper (I own one that has been converted with a Honda motor, much faster and more reliable), I also love electric cars (I own a Tesla). So, you would think that a classic Mini Cooper that has been electrified would have me excited. Well… it did… until I read the specs. Read on for this abomination.  (more…)
