Tesla is finally trying to make a more mainstream (still not cheap) car, their latest slated for 2010 is the “model s” which...

If you are a man of small stature (under 6′) and have $100,000 to burn… this detailed review by AutoblogGreen is the best we’ve seen. The all electric Tesla Roadster has been in the news quite a bit… but details have been lacking. Being that the car is basically built on the same body as the Lotus Elise… it is a small car to say the least. Getting in the car requires...

Volkswagen - Autosalon Genf 2019

Apparently Tesla put the entrenched car makers on notice and they all woke up from a deep slumber. Now, just about every car manufacturer is working on an EV. In Volkswagen’s case they are working on quite a few.  Most will be… boring. This one, however, isn’t boring at all and is dubbed the ID. BUGGY.

This electric VW dune buggy will be based on their new modular electric vehicle platform called MEB. This electric buggy is inspired by the VW-powered buggies of the 60’s and 80’s. The ID. BUGGY will be a rear wheel drive with a 62 KwH battery with a 155 mile range. More pictures of this electric VW buggy after the break. (more…)

Swind E Classic Electric Mini Cooper

First off – I love the classic Mini Cooper (I own one that has been converted with a Honda motor, much faster and more reliable), I also love electric cars (I own a Tesla). So, you would think that a classic Mini Cooper that has been electrified would have me excited. Well… it did… until I read the specs. Read on for this abomination.  (more…)

As much as I love riding motorcycles, I also enjoy hopping on a scooter from time-to-time. There is something about the simplicity of scooters – no gears, easy braking, and the uncomplicated dash. What could make a scooter better? Electricity of course. This modern take on the Vespa styling is from Bolt Mobility and is known as the AppScooter. Strange name. The all-electric AppScooter has an impressive range of 248 miles. The dash is a giant 7″ LCD touchscreen...

Taiga TS2 Electric Snowmobile Side View

A Canaidian startup just released an all electric snowmobile, the Taiga TS2, and it is quick. Like 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds. The Taiga electric snowmobile was designed from the ground up for its job of quietly shredding the snow and ice. The TS2 is powered by a brushless motor and weighs under 500 lbs, similar to the gasoline versions. Range is about 62- miles per charge, there is regenerative braking, and 250 Nm of torque. Just like the Tesla electric cars, Taiga plans to make over-the-air software updates. (more…)

This is the world’s first entirely solar train and it is up and running in Byron Bay, Australia. The Byron Bay Railroad Company started off with a heritage train and added 6.5 kilowatts of solar panels. This solar train can carry 100 seated passengers, a few standing passengers, luggage, bikes, and more.  More details, pictures, and video after the break. ...

Welcome to the future. Even the traditional lighters are fuel-free now, just like the Tesla Model S. The TekFire Fuel-Free Lighter ($19) uses a high-voltage arc of electricity as opposed to a flame. This means that it can start fires in windy and rainy conditions. The TekFire Lighter is powered by a lithium-ion battery, recharges via USB, and includes a lanyard.

The ultimate office/desktop conversation starter. The SpaceB Levitating Light Bulb Lamp ($129) does pretty much what you would imagine. It levitates while lighting up. The real “magic” is in the inconspicuous fake book which contains the power source and electromagnets. Because it is a single LED light bulb it is perfect for accent lighting or light reading. Nikola Tesla would be so proud. ...

Now that Tesla has completed the incestuous acquisition of Solar City they can begin the deeper integration of solar and battery. In my opinion solar and battery go together like chocolate and peanut butter. It just make sense. Back to the story at hand, Solar City recently completed a 1.4 MW array on the island of Ta’u in American Samoa. The array features 5,328 solar panels that cover 2.5 acres. This microgrid is paired up with 6 MWh’s of Tesla Powerpacks. This battery setup can charge in just seven hours of sunlight and...
