PS4 Release Date

If you are in the Sony PlayStation camp and are eagerly waiting for the latest PS4, well we may finally have the release date.  This rumor, was leaked by a supplier and claims that the screenshot (pictured above) was from the ordering system.  Sony shared the price and what the PlayStation 4 will look like… but not the release date.

I have no doubt that this Sony PS4 release date is real and I imagine they are going to try and get sales going before the infamous Black Friday.  Start saving up your $399.

Marbly Tetris

The maker of Tetris, Alexey Pajitnov, has his sites focused on the mobile gaming world.  His first mobile game, Marbly, is released for iOS.  While the game isn’t like Tetris it still requires you to think several moves ahead while matching colored marbles.  The game company producing the game is called WildSnake Software… and they are already working on new and addictive games.

Soylent Engineered Food

Sure… food is about survival, but is also about taste, texture, smell, etc… Without food, I would have to invent new ways to see some of my friends as we tend to plan social gatherings around meals.  However, there are the times when I am in a rush and turn to fast garbage food.  Sure I could turn to a meal replacement shake or bar if I am going to miss “a” meal.  Imagine replacing an entire day or an entire months food supply with a shake.  Rob Rhinehart, the founder of Soylent, wants this type of thing to become a reality.  In fact, he claims to be living/eating off of the Soylent product almost exclusively for 3-months.  Read on for details.

EA Online Pass Program Ends

In an effort to boost company revenue EA created an Online Pass Program in 2010.  The idea behind the EA Online Pass was that they could make money off of the used game market by charging second-hand users to pay additional fees to unlock content.

Bad idea.  Long story short, EA has finally done the right thing and is ending the program.  “Many players didn’t respond to the format,” the company told GamesBeat. “None of our new EA titles will include that feature.”

Honda GROM

Honda ha a bunch of cool new bikes hitting the road in 2014.  One in particular will end up in my stable though, the Honda Grom.  It reminds me of a Ducati Hypermotard / Monster that has been shrunken.

“This is really a fun time for Honda fans, as we unveil these four incredibly cool all-new machines for 2014 that reach out to entirely different segments of the market,” said Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. “This introduction serves as a perfect example of what 2014 is going to be like for Honda, as we continue to bring diverse and completely new concepts to riders, no matter what kind of machines they might favor.”

While the Honda Grom is closer to pit-bike sized than that of a full sized motorcycle… it comes with some cool gadgetry and tech.  Start off with the smaller frame, and LED taillight, 12-inch wheels, a two passenger seat, an inverted front fork, hydraulic disc brakes, a 125cc fuel-injected engine, a standard 4-speed transmission, and a digital instrument cluster.  All this goodness for just $2,999.  I am smiling just thinking about it.  Cool Honda Grom Videos after the break.

Hotchkiss School Green Roof

The Hotchkiss school in Connecticut  has reduced their six-figure winter energy bill with a few big changes.  First they removed their oil-burning boiler with a woodchip biomass power plant.  Not only does this save them big money but it also drops their carbon footprint by 35 to 45 percent.

These biomass burners use locally sourced woodchips from FSC-certified forests and have an electrostatic precipitator that removes 95 percent of the particulates from the emissions.  This makes sense on all levels; less cost, cleaner burning, and a renewable energy source.

Hotchkiss Biomass Power Plant

“The building is slated for LEED certification for conservation features that include a renewable, laminated wood structural system; water-conserving plumbing fixtures; use of local materials with a high recycled content; an abundance of daylight inside; and highly efficient mechanical systems, lighting, and exterior skin.”

Budweiser Buddy Cup

So you are at your favorite watering hole and order up a cold Budweiser.  If you live in Brazil, the Budweiser might show up in The Buddy Cup.  The Budweiser Buddy Cup allows you to link to others, via Facebook, by simply clinking the cups together.

First you have to allow your cell phone to share your Facebook profile with the chip that is embedded in the Buddy Cup.  After that, a simple “cheers” moment links you that person.  Cool and scary at the same time.  Watch the Budweiser promo video for the Buddy Cup after the break.

3D Printed Spine

A team of Scientists from Cornell University, led by Dr. Lawrence J. Bonasser are working to replace bad spinal discs with a 3D Printer.  Sounds like the future is almost here, in fact Dr. Bonasser has already successfully completed this process on over 100 rats.  This is big news considering over 30 million Americans currently suffer from Degenerative Disc Disease.  Read on for more details.
