Not sure why this is newsworthy but here goes.... The FCC has just approved (brace yourself) the white colored Sony PS3 for release to the United States. If you want to have a white PS3 today, you have a couple of options. First option is to buy a white skin that wraps your PS3 in white goodness. This will cost you about $15 here and is non permanent... if you don't like it take it off and you are only out $15. Second option is to buy the satin silver PS3 which is close to white and very expensive... take a peak here.

Looks like ZodTTD has coded a native SNES emulator for the iPhone / iPod touch. The code is still in beta phase, but should be available in a week or so. Super Mario World, Street Fighter 2, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Super Metroid will soon compete for space on your iPhone and iPod touch.

No surprise here. Lately Apple is kicking some serious butt. For Q1 2008 Apple posted revenue of $9.6 billion and $1.58 billion in profit. Holy Shamolee! This is the best quarter in Apples history with a whopping 35% pop in year-over-year revenue. However, this wasn't enough to appease the Wall Street Gods. The stock is down $17.06, or nearly 11 percent, to $138.58 in after-hours trading. Geesh... give Steve and company a break.

Meg Whitman is calling it quits after 10 years at eBay. She has been a good captain of the ship for the most part minus the Skype Acquisition. Ebay has already admitted this deal was a mistake with a $900 million write-down against the whopping $2.6 billion price tag. John Donahue, current head of the auction business, will be the new CEO starting March 31st. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing for eBay... only time will tell. Curious if Meg will work again, she has enough money to take about 200 years off.

I guess you could call this a "public service announcement".... stop playing with sodium metal unless you realize the dangers, and I don't mean the obvious danger from the explosion.

The explosion alone is enough to burn you severely... or take off a couple of body parts. Notice the smoke after every sodium metal explosion? That smoke is sodium hydroxide and it can severely damage your respiratory system. Still not convinced? ... read here. Sodium metal is a Soft metal, Can be cut with a knife and its very reactive but its one step under Potassium. Sodium metal reacting with water producing hydrogen then igniting. Considering the level of innovation at Palm for the last, say umm 5+ years (?) this is not a total surpise. Still a bit sad, as this seems to be yet another nail in the coffin for Palm as a company. Personally I like the Palm product even though it hasn't changed much in quite some time. Between the layoffs, the flopped Foleo, and massive delays in the new OS, something has to change (for the better) quickly!

The bloated Microsoft Vista operating system gets a personal trainer to shed some fat. A free software tool created by Dino Nuhagic called vLite promises to slim the pig down a bit. If you are already dating the chubby Vista don't get too excited. The software only allows users to remove Vista features PRIOR to installation. Some of the items that can be removed are Windows Photo Viewer, MSN Installer, SlideShow, Wallpapers, and other utilities. The vLite software is also a one-way ticket, your pre-installation changes are permanent. Spend some time thinking about what you can and can't live without before pushing the GO button.

Windows XP only weighed in at 1.5GB's (of required disk space) and Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate editions require 10X the space (15GB's of space?!?!) At least Microsoft (NSDG: MSFT) officials have openly expressed concerns as well. While speaking last year at the University of Illinois, Eric Traut (Engineer for Microsoft) stated the operating system has become bloated. "A lot of people think of Windows as this large, bloated operating system. That may be a fair characterization," said Traut. Sounds like vLite may be on to something... good work Dino!

If you are a man of small stature (under 6') and have $100,000 to burn... this detailed review by AutoblogGreen is the best we've seen. The all electric Tesla Roadster has been in the news quite a bit... but details have been lacking. Being that the car is basically built on the same body as the Lotus Elise... it is a small car to say the least. Getting in the car requires a small person... or a bit of Vaseline. 0-60 in four seconds... break out the Vaseline :)

This is a tough one to categorize! The biggest letters on the can should be something to the effect of, "Object in can may look different than actual product". The title on the can is - Trekking Mahlzeiten - which translates to trekking meals. Do you think diarrhea on a trek is a good idea? Rest assured we are trying to get our hands on one of these burgers for an un-canning and taste test. Too many questions come to mind.

They are lowering the insertion fee (the cheapest part of the transaction) while raising the percentages for the final value fees. So you will save 5 pennies on the insertion fee while paying an increase of over 3.5 percent on the closing price of the auction. In other words... you will be paying more for your listings. This fun begins on February 20th, 2008.

This quote had me rolling on the floor... amazing how eBay can raiser rates all while putting together crafty quotes like this - "You asked, we listened. We're reducing Insertion Fees and adjusting Final Value Fees to lower your up-front cost to sell on eBay." When will the greed subside?

I love playing with smoke bombs. Not really sure what caused this addiction, but it is very real. I have tried just about every type of smoke bomb available from the ones you buy at firework stands to the ones you mail order that look like sticks of dynamite. In hunting for the best smoke I have even bought units made to smoke gophers out of their homes. They all seem to whimper out after less than 30 seconds leaving me disappointed with yet another wasted dollar. My search is finally over... I have found the perfect smoke bomb!

A site, oddly enough, named Keep Shooting (yikes :)) has smoke signals that put out a strong stream of smoke for over 4 minutes. Watch the video... ours lasted for about 5 minutes! A bit boring... but shows you how long these things go. Keep in mind we were filming on a windy day. Usually the entire area would be full of smoke. They cost $11.66 per unit or $139.95 for 12. Give them a try... and trust me they are worth the money. Unfortunately they just ran out of stock but they typically get more. So check back often.

BBQ Chicken, a South Korea based fried chicken chain has come out with the Col-Pop. One of the best iPhone copies we have seen. Is Apple watching any of this? The HiPhone C-002 is being sold by DragonKicks for $239. The best part is that they have actually made some improvements such as; not carrier specific/unlocked, dual SIM slots, removable battery, and a microSD slot. They don't mention the phones storage capacity at this time.

Polaroid announces the end of the Polaroid (shake em up) pictures to the dismay of OutKast. The end of the Polaroid film format means the cutting of 450 jobs, and the closing of plants in Mexico, the Netherlands, and Massachusetts. The photograph quality was never great... but this one hurts a bit. Who doesn't remember shaking a Polaroid picture in years past. Polaroid film... you will be missed.

Sony Ericsson launches their First Windows Mobile Handset, XPERIA X1

Sony Ericsson has mainly been known for creating phones based on the Symbian operating system, that changed today with the launch of their first Windows Mobile phone, the Xperian X1 QWERTY smartphone. The X1 is the first product in the new Xperian line of higher-end smartphones. The X1 was announced just before the Mobile World Congress show which opens on Monday the 11th. Sony Ericsson also announced several other phones, including the new Walkman W980, Cyber-shot c702 & C902, Z770, G700, G900, and a couple of high-speed HSPA XpressCards.

The X1 will not make it into the wild until the second half of this year (in certain "select markets"), but the other models should begin shipping worldwide by mid year. It looks as if the new phones will support either HSDPA or UMTS. Sony Ericsson seems to barely give mention to the fact that they are now offering the Windows Mobile operating system. I personally think that the Windows Mobile operating system is clunky... so it is nice to see that Sony has re-skinned the look/feel of the OS. Also, it is refreshing to see a major manufacturer offering several operating systems, and not locking in on just one. The handset has a 3-inch wide VGA touchscreen (800 x 480) atop an optical navigation pad; the display slides open in a "arc slider design" (and flips the screen orientation to landscape mode) showing the full QWERTY keyboard. It supports aGPS, A2DP Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, microSD, HSDPA, and has a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera with photo light. The onboard memory is only 400MB.

Hybrid car benefits are obvious and are a step in the right direction. However the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) thinks that some hybirds are too quiet. The main complaint stems from the fact that some hybrids (Prius, Camry Hybird, Lexus GS540h, etc...) turn of their engines and run on full electric mode at times. Maryland State Senator Norman Stone is pushing for a bill which would require all vehicles (read that again ALL vehicles) sold or licensed in Maryland to have a minimum sound level at all times. Come on... for crying in the night! I understand the issue, and I am sensitive to it... however this can't be the only option. I like the idea of a quieter world... the last thing I want to see is manufacturers making their cars louder. Let's not even think about what this means for the all-electric vehicles which are becoming more prevalent.

The only catch is that you have to have a prepaid Starbucks card and can only browse for two hours per day. Raelyn Campbell is angry at Best Buy and the Geek Squad for losing her laptop... pulls large number ($54 Million) from butt. Long story short, Best Buy lost Raelyns laptop then treated her like crap. They did not come to an agreeable settlement so she decided to sue them for an insane amount of money. I agree with her original offer for Best Buy to pay her $2,100, the current situation is going to cost much more in negative press, regardless of the outcome.

Argghhhh!
