This Monday the U.S. Federal Communications Commission will let mobile operators shut down their analog networks. The two biggest U.S. cellular operators, AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless, will be taking advantage of this by shutting down their analog networks (this Monday). Most, if not all, smaller carriers will be following suit.
The end of analog cellular service will not affect too many people, as most customers are on digital networks already. The main users of the analog service are homes/businesses that have a cellular alarm backup device. Upgrade your alarms folks.
