The much anticipated, uberly hyped and ironically named – Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 – Stimulus Package Map Pack is being released today by Infinity Ward through its pimp The Microsoft., For the price of 1200 MS points – roughly the amount of money it would take to feed a small family of six in some third world hell hole – we get five additional Maps for our favorite Online Crack. There are three new maps – Bailout “a multi-level apartment complex” – Storm “an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery” – and Salvage “a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars.” There are also two of the most popular levels from the last game remade for MW2 like the Classic Coke – the Crash (influenced by Black Hawk Down), and the Mountain Dew Throwback – the Overgrown., Personally I would have loved to see something inspired by the other gorgeous levels from the current game like Wolverines or Gulag, but hey there is always the next patch., Oh yeah and since its The Patch Day, there are various reports of breakdowns during downloads, log-ins, barracks and so on., I was able to pay for the download, get the download, but not actually allowed to log in to update the game itself – all I got was that “helpful” link to the www.xbox.com/support that never gets updated with any useful infoz., For those familiar with online gaming, going back to the Ultima Online and Sony EQ days, The Patch Day is is not the day to actually play the game, this is the day to put your 1200 MS points on the Microsoft altar and wait for The Fix of The Patch.
