Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Patch Hell Day

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

The much anticipated, uberly hyped and ironically named – Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 – Stimulus Package Map Pack is being released today by Infinity Ward through its pimp The Microsoft.  For the price of 1200 MS points – roughly the amount of money it would take to feed a small family of six in some third world hell hole – we get five additional Maps for our favorite Online Crack. There are three new maps – Bailout “a multi-level apartment complex” – Storm “an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery” – and Salvage “a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars.” There are also two of the most popular levels from the last game remade for MW2 like the Classic Coke – the Crash (influenced by Black Hawk Down), and the Mountain Dew Throwback – the Overgrown.  Personally I would have loved to see something inspired by the other gorgeous levels from the current game like Wolverines or Gulag, but hey there is always the next patch.  Oh yeah and since its The Patch Day, there are various reports of breakdowns during downloads, log-ins, barracks and so on.  I was able to pay for the download, get the download, but not actually allowed to log in to update the game itself – all I got was that “helpful” link to the that never gets updated with any useful infoz.  For those familiar with online gaming, going back to the Ultima Online and Sony EQ days, The Patch Day is is not the day to actually play the game, this is the day to put your 1200 MS points on the Microsoft altar and wait for The Fix of The Patch.

We just received word that the Title Update has been fixed, meaning that the DLC should now be available on the Marketplace

Yo, I don’t think he was talking about the DLCs availability. It took my 1200 MSP just fine and even did the download but kicked me to the curb when I tried to log in to update the actual game.

OK latest update from Xbox Live rep Larry “Major” Nelson has come in saying that the error has been collected and once players download the patch, they should be able to play the new pack.

Hey so who is raking in the cash on this Infinity Ward, Microsoft or Activision?

    Infinity Ward wrote the game.
    Activision owns Infinity Ward.
Microsoft pimps the game to you.

    Everyone profits!

Just tried to buy some points and I get a pretty picture of an xbox 360 and it says “Sorry, this page is unavailable”. Fun all around.

Yep… the only bummer is that if you play in death match mode you don’t get the new stimulus pack maps, at least not as of last night. Any idea if this is going to change?
