Yep, it has taken a long time for this to become a reality. Yes we have had plenty of 1080P cameras. We have plenty of cheap webcams. But the two have never been put together in a way that allows 1080P video calling, until now. Logitech's C920 1080P webcam partners up with Skype 5.7 Beta to allow full quality HD video calls.
The Logitech C920 ($99) should be available this month and sports a Carl Zeiss lens, a 15 megapixel still camera, and H.264 video compression. Not sure I want people Skype-ing with me in 1080p, too much detail.
How is this thing first? Microsoft Lifecam Studio has been out for over a year, does 1080p video calls and is cheaper.
