I suddenly don't feel so bad about leaving the kitchen light on yesterday for 4 hours. The owners of Clifton's Cafeteria in Los Angeles discovered a neon sign that has been running non stop since 1935. The yellow neon sign was basically a backlighting panel that got hidden behind a wall during previous renovations. They found the neon sign that has been running for 77 years while doing renovations of their own.
Ouch, talk about a big electricity bill. The owner of the building calculates that the sign has burned at least $17,000 of electricity over the decades.
