3D printing has made huge strides in the last few years with folks printing everything from toys to gun parts. The Urbee 2 is taking 3D printing to a much larger scale by making an actual car. This 3D printed car is as strong as steel while weighing about half as much as a typical car.
The Urbee 2 is a two-passenger three-wheeled vehicle that is shaped like a tear drop. Jim Kor, the designer, is also aiming high on fuel efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The big guys should be paying attention.
Expect more game changers like this as large scale 3D printers continue to improve in quality while dropping in price. Who knows, we may be downloading plans and printing cars in our garages some day.
