The Manta Resort, off the coast of Tanzania, has just plopped a floating hotel room about 820 feet from shore. This cool floating hotel room has a roof deck, an above water lounge/bathroom area, and an underwater master bedroom surrounded by windows. Read on for details and more pictures.
The Manta Resorts Floating Hotel Room is located on Pemba Island in Zanzibar. The area is known for having a great coral reef that attracts divers and snorkelers alike. This floating house with its underwater room was made by Genberg Underwater Hotels, a Swedish company. Who knew there was a business making underwater hotel rooms?
The underwater room sits about 13 feet below the surface of the water and has two large windows on each wall. There are also spotlights that attract fish to the area for nighttime viewing.
Now for the bad news. The hotel room costs about $1,500 per night on top of the regular resort cost. Ouch.
