Have a backyard? Want to save money on your refrigeration costs? The Groundfridge might fit the bill. The Groundfridge is a modern take on the old root cellar. It was built by a Dutch designer, Floris Schoonderbeek, and uses thermal inertia to keep temperatures constant throughout the year.
Groundfridge will keep contents between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius (50 to 53.6 degrees Fahrenheit) all year. Not ideal for meats, but great for vegetables, cheese, wine, etc… The good part, it is it can hold the equivalent of 20 standard size refrigerators.
