The Ford Raptor is a pretty great (and expensive) truck in its own right. But bigger is always usually better. This beautiful beast is the DEFCO BA350. It is a one-ton diesel truck with Raptor looks and DNA, and yes “BA” does stand for bad ass.
The truck manages to look like a Ford Raptor at the one-ton size with proper scale. They achieved this with massive raptor styled fenders, 43- inch military-grade tires, and beefy King suspension. Each BA350 includes a set of custom designed, DEFCO-branded 20”x14” WELD XT wheels with Continental MPT81 43” tires. These are all mounted and balanced in-house with state of the art Hunter equipment. We also take it a step further and true the tires to within .020” of each other, which typically limits the amount of weight needed to balance the wheel and tire package to less than 6oz. We re-calibrate the TPMS system to recognize the correct pressures, and install a Hypertech speedometer module to correct the speedo input, which also brings the transmission shift schedules back in line. Inside the cab, extensive Dynamat sound deadening and foam is installed in the doors, floor, etc for a truly luxurious ride.
Stage 1 takes a factory truck and turns it into a capable off-road machine. Stage 2 takes that capability, and hits it with some serious steroids, complete with 12″ of travel in front, and 17″ in the rear.
In front, a King 3″ triple bypass / remote reservoir shock is paired with a King 3″ remote reservoir coilover. Both are hung from a custom shock hoop that is welded to the frame for a lifetime of durable service. DEFCO / Lewisbuilt radius arms, track bar, pitman arm, and dual King 2.5″ steering stabilizers keep the front end under control.
The crown jewel of the Stage 2 suspension is our proprietary rear cantilever suspension system, that is controlled via a King 3.5″ triple bypass / remote reservoir shock absorber. A new set of custom made leaf springs from Atlas Suspension round out the back.
Both front and rear differentials are trussed, gusseted, and re-geared. Uprated EBC rotors and pads with braided stainless steel brake lines help bring things to a stop quickly, making these truly a joy to drive – unlike many “big” trucks. All trucks are sent out with a build sheet and an alignment spec sheet.
