Pranos HoloGlass Turns Your Car Window Into a Digital Sign People Outside Can See

Bumper stickers had a good run. Pranos HoloGlass turns one of your car windows into a digital screen that faces outward – signs, photos, and video for everyone on the sidewalk, while nothing gets bolted to the outside of the car. A compact HoloGlass unit sits inside the cabin and lights a custom-fit screen on the glass. Price starts at $289 for the Rear Side Door kit, brand-direct at pranos.ai. Back Windshield is $429 and Front Windshield is $549. No monthly fee.

Pick your window

The screen is cut for your car’s window pattern, based on the year, make, and model you enter when you order. There is a fit tool on the product page that tells you right away which windows work. Three options:

  • Rear Side Door – $289 – the one that fits most cars: sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and pickups with rear side windows (crew cab, most extended cabs). The screen slides into place.
  • Back Windshield – $429 – for SUVs and crew-cab pickups with a sunroof or glass roof, since the unit mounts on the roof glass. It also needs a fairly upright back window; steeply sloped glass like a Tesla Model Y’s doesn’t work.
  • Front Windshield – $549 – the biggest canvas, and parked only. It’s a roll-up film you lay over the windshield and put away before you drive. Needs a sunroof or glass roof plus enough cabin length.

DIY install, phone does the rest

It’s designed for you to install yourself – no measuring and no installer. The HoloGlass unit goes on a suction-cup mount inside the car (on the opposite rear window or the roof glass, depending on the kit), the screen goes on the window, and you fine-tune the picture with the remote’s zoom and keystone controls. Pranos runs a live install-help line if it fights you.

Content comes three ways:

  • Pranos app (iPhone on iOS 17 or later, Android 7.0 or later) – send your own photos and videos, or build signs in the sign builder, QR codes included.
  • Pranos AI – say or type the sign you want and it designs it. There’s a free monthly allowance; burn through it and the sign builder still works (offline, too) until it resets.
  • HDMI mirroring – the included HDMI cable and USB-C adapter mirror your phone straight to the window. Your phone needs USB-C video output.

The unit holds 40 GB of signs, photos, and video (each file under 4 GB). Sound goes to any Bluetooth speaker you already own.

What’s in the box

Per the official product page: the HoloGlass unit, your custom-fit screen, a suction-cup mount, a power inverter for the 12V socket plus power cable, a remote, the HDMI cable and USB-C phone adapter, a setup guide, and a storage bag. App and Pranos AI come with it. Orders ship within about 3 business days.

Read this before you go full billboard

  • It’s a night owl. Pranos says it’s made for dusk to night. Midday sun washes it out. Light and moderate tint generally work; very dark tint dims it.
  • Video only while parked. And stopped in traffic doesn’t count as parked. The Front Windshield screen gets rolled up before you drive, period.
  • Check your local laws. Display, window, and advertising rules vary by state and city, and some places restrict any display while the car is moving, even a still image. Pranos puts the legal responsibility on you.
  • Back seat must be empty. The image crosses the cabin to reach the window, so a passenger would block it – and stare straight into the light.
  • Watch your battery. No battery inside; it runs off the 12V socket through the inverter. With the car off, it’s pulling from your car battery, so keep sessions short and unplug when you leave.
  • Returns cost you. 15-day return window with a $75 restocking fee, because the screen is made for your car. 1-year warranty. One kit covers one window.

More car-as-a-screen weirdness: Huawei’s XPixel headlights turn a parked EV into a drive-in theater, and way back in the archive, a Smart car with a built-in projector.

Check your car with the fit tool and order brand-direct at pranos.ai/products/pranos-hologlass-kit – from $289 (Rear Side Door), $429 (Back Windshield), $549 (Front Windshield).
