Hammersmith Carnival Pocket Roulette: The Fidget Spinner That Picks Lunch

Sponsored Spotlight

Hammersmith Carnival Pocket Roulette fidget spinner with gold ring and red ball

Desk fidgets usually do one thing: spin. The Hammersmith Carnival Pocket Roulette spins, then tells you what to do next. It is a palm-sized, all-metal roulette wheel under a sapphire glass lid: flick the outer ring one way, the inner wheel goes the other, and loose steel balls race around until they settle on a number. Lunch order, who buys coffee, which bug to fix first – let the wheel decide. Price: about $97.60.

The high-end look, without the high-end bill

If this design looks familiar, it should. Boutique fidget makers like Lautie sell machined roulette spinners that run several hundred dollars, and the spinner community has been drooling over them for years. Hammersmith’s take lands at roughly a quarter of that. The Classic V3 Edition pairs a stainless steel body with a gold-tone ring engraved “Don’t Play With The Devil” and “Good Luck,” a red ball, and a multi-rotor core built for long, quiet spins.

How it plays

Rotate the outer ring counterclockwise and the inner wheel glides clockwise, so the balls skate across the pockets in the gap between them. It is heavy (the listing puts it at roughly three-quarters of a pound), so it sits planted on a desk and feels like a little piece of machinery in your hand. “Pocket” is generous, though – this is a desk toy you might occasionally carry, not an everyday-carry fidget.

Pick your finish

The listing offers four editions: the Classic V3 (silver and gold), a Black Characters V3, and two grungier Neo styles in Bronze and Red-Copper, with a skull hub and “Old Boy 1997” stamped on the rim. Prices vary by edition, so check the one you want.

The fine print: several owners say the ball tends to come to rest on top of the numbers rather than dropping into a pocket, so you may need to tilt it to read your result. And some numbers are not color-filled, which makes them harder to read at a glance. It is rated 14+, and those loose balls are a choking hazard for little kids.
