There is currently a Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board investigation into the crash of the experimental ICON A5 amphibious airplane. Jon Karkow, lead engineer, and coworker Cagri Sever were killed in the crash in Vacaville, California. Karkow was the pilot of the ICON A5 airplane which  had been airborne for approximately 20 minutes.

The Icon A5 crash might be the result of a “steep vertical descent,” according to Wired. The A5 was designed to make flying easy for the masses, this crash puts things in question.
