MicroVision SHOWWX Pico (2011) – Pocket Projectors That Don’t Suck in 2026
In December 2011 we pitched the MicroVision SHOWWX Classic laser pico projector as holiday sharing without the “everyone crowd the iPhone” huddle. About $140, ~4 oz, always in focus, WVGA 848×480, laser colors up to a claimed 200-inch wall dream, roughly two hours of movie juice. For less than a night of drinking, you could […]
Behringer iNuke Boom
In what looks like another tabletop iPod dock is something of quite another scale. Take another, closer, look at the iPod dock pictured above. Yep… that tiny little thing on top is an iPod touch. You are looking at the Behringer iNuke Boom iPod dock which is 8-foot wide, 4-foot tall, and weighs 700 pounds. […]
Survival Sandwich Stays “Fresh” For Two Years
If you have a survival, or bug-out bag, ready for the times when you have to grab your gear and go… you might want to pick up some Tactical Sandwiches (or in this case a Tactical Sammich). Supposedly they taste pretty good and come in two flavors (Honey BBQ beef and pepperoni). The sandwiches […]
Flyboard Zapata
Like the LevJet… but cooler. The Flyboard Zapata makes you look a bit like a super hero with the water jets coming out at your hands and feet. Comparing the two JetPack Systems is like Rocketeer VS Iron Man. How do I do this full time as a job?
Flight Assembled Architecture
An installation at the FRAC Centre in Orleans, France is using autonomous quadrocopter robots to build a 20-foot tall tower with 1,500 blocks. Pretty amazing. The robotic four-blade helicopters place each building block in an exact location according to an existing blueprint. “The show is the work of ETH Zurich roboticist Raffaello D’Andrea and architects […]
OrigAudio Rock-It 2.0 Speaker
While this type of speaker system isn’t exactly new… it is one of the cleaner designs I have seen. The OrigAudio Rock-It 2.0 Portable Speaker turns almost anything into a speaker. Don’t expect ear shattering sound out of this little speaker… but it sure is handy in a pinch. Yours for just over $40 here. […]
Lightbulbs That Double As Audio Speakers
If you have ever wanted to add integrated speakers in a room, that has can lights, this might be the cleanest/easiest way to get it done without involving any construction. The GiiNii AudioBulb system allows you to pump audio, wirelessly, to their special light bulb speakers. The AudioBulb has 5-watt LED lighting that is the […]

The Inflatable Pillow Tie
Yep, I could have used this for one of my first jobs… reading and organizing old loan documents. What looks like a fairly fashionable necktie has a hidden valve for inflating the tie making it into a pillow. “Because most things that require a neck tie, require a nap, the pillow tie does double duty. […]
Tianmen Mountain Glass Skywalk
As amazing as this glass skywalk is on the side of Tianmen mountain in Zhangjiajie, China… there is no chance I am setting foot on it. Let’s just say I have seen some of the past Chinese construction failures. With that said, this glass skywalk is 4,700 feet above sea level and is constructed of […]
