Robot Sub Competition Winners Announced

AUVSI Photo

Although I was deeply disappointed at the absence of robot sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads, the 11th International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Competition was still awesome. Robotic subs competed in a variety of tasks showing off their technological prowess. This year a team from the University of Maryland emerged victorious unseating the 3-time record holders from Florida. In the end eight teams (out of 25) made it to the final round this year:

1 University of Maryland

2 University of Texas at Dallas

3 École de technologie supérieure

4 University of Florida

5 United States Naval Academy

6 University of Victoria

7 Cornell University

8 Florida Atlantic University

Mad amount of uber nerdy data on subs (Journals) and teams here.
