Axon Razorback

I love remote control gadgets… cars… boats… planes… helicopters… etc… So when I saw the video for the Axon Razorback RC hovercraft I pee’d a little. The Razorback will go 25mph right out of the box… but can go 50mph (won’t take 2 minutes to crash it at those speeds) with a simple motor upgrade. The unit will be available for $250 in September.

Press Release

The Axon Razorback model is the first Anti-Gravity RC vehicle. Similar to a hovercraft but designed for speed, this futuristic R/C vehicle can do speeds of 25mph right out of the box, with a motor upgrade to 50mph. Available in Ready to Run or Receiver Ready packages. Ready to Run includes a 3 channel 2.4ghz surface radio and rechargeable 3 cell 1300mah 25c Lipo Battery pack. This vehicle is made from the finest parts available. Dual Brushless motors, Lexan Body, and Polyethylene foam make it nearly indestructible. Comes fully assembled. Works best on pavement, sand, indoor tracks and other smooth surfaces. Even a beginner can pick up the controls, but the pros will love the feel of it! It can jump, drift, and race like no other vehicle in its class. In fact, we don’t even know if there is another vehicle in its class.

Watch the video after the break.

Looks like it might struggle a little bit on gravel or any bumps for that matter.

Price is a bit steep, but how can you argue with 50mph. How much does the new motor cost?

I got mine and I am not 100% thrilled. The unit came really late, and I was offered an additional battery for my troubles. Very nice. The motor had problems, I sent it back and they promptly replaced it. Very nice.

Now the not so nice. I can’t seem to get the batteries to work or charge consistently… very frustrating. The build quality may be lacking. I will update more soon.
