Casio G-Shock MTG-1500 – Pimpin Nerd Watch

MTG-1500

Casio's latest G-Shock MTG-1500 watch is another fine installment in their geek friendly, chunky watches. First and foremost it is Solar Powered! Additionally, the MTG-1500 auto synchs with the atomic clock radio signals, adding to ones alpha nerd street cred. Unlike my fake Rolex and most nerd watches, this watch is water resistant to 200 meters. Beyond that, the watch is crammed with a bunch of cool features like analog AND digital support, dual time zones, countdown timer, a gaggle of alarms, LED backlight, and it freaking glows in the dark (yeah big deal). As cool as this gadget is, there are things that made me scratch my turnip – even though it is not a cheap plastic watch, the $400 price tag seems a bit steep for a stainless steel Casio. I mean it is kinda pimpin, but definitely not Caligula pimpin. Consider this for under $100 you can get the Casio MTG-MTG930DA-8V which is virtually identical, admittedly not as cool looking, or for a little more an Oceanus OCWM800TBA-1A (that's the Lexus of Casios Toyotas) which is a titanium solar powered chronograph that also supports the Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping -  Confuzzling, ennit?!
