Wicked Cool Siftables – Miking The Digital Physical

I am a very jaded guy who has been waaaay over-exposed to all things Tech and it is  damn rare when I come across a tech gizmo that makes me go “holy crap that’s cool”… Well – I just had one of those moments and have to share it with you.  They are called Siftables and they blew my mind. Siftables are these freakin cool cookie-sized programmable computer tiles, complete with bright tiny screens and sound, they are like kid blocks for grownups and bring a whole new dimension to human interaction.  Due to their wireless nature, Siftables are aware of their motion, including tilt, and their proximity to each other. You can do many things with these cool tiles – math problems, word problems, idea collaborations, acid trip enchancers – their uses seem to be only limited by ones imagination.

They act in concert to form a single interface: users physically manipulate them – piling, grouping, sorting – to interact with digital information and media. Siftables provides a new platform on which to implement tangible, visual and mobile applications.”

As a platform, Siftables have huge development potential, although I am totally somewhere between the “WTF can I use these for” and “Damn I got to get me some of these to play with”.
