TV With No Cables… Almost A Reality

Sony Wireless Power

Notice the Sony TV above has no audio, video, or power cables?  This isn’t a Photoshop job… the tv is using Sony’s new wireless power transfer technology which can send 60 watts of power over the air.

Currently Sony can push the 60 watts of power about 20 inches, and can extend that range with passive extenders.

The technology that makes this possible is dharmastastic magnetic resonance… which basically means they use multiple devices transmitting electromagnetic energy on resonant frequencies.  I have no idea what the hell that really means, but I am confident this type of wireless power will be a big part of future tech gadgets (assuming it doesn’t cause cancer or something).
