Recently Toyota has been getting headline news because of some quality issues, and it is starting to look like a classic witch hunt. Let me start off with my disclaimer and bias, I think Toyota makes a quality fair priced product and I am a big fan. Now on with my rant of what I really think is going on with all of the negative press.
I don't disagree that Toyota has had some recent issues, but if we want to compare this small blip on the radar to American cars and their list of recalls it would be just that, a blip. First issue was that a floor mat (the thick rubber all weather one) was getting stuck under the accelerator pedal if you slid it too far forward and jammed the pedal under it, umm duh. Then the issue was accelerators getting stuck, which already has a small quick fix, done. Now the Prius is the target due to alleged brake issues, we will have to wait and see.
I think this sensationalism is based on the fact that American cars are not keeping up with their Japanese competition on quality or sales. Soooo why not slander the foreign competition like our turd of a transportation secretary Ray LaHood is doing? Sad, and blatant like most of our governments recent criminal acts. Toyota is still a great product despite our government/medias ridiculous horn honking.
** stepping off of my soapbox now **
If you want to know if your Toyota is affected here is the Toyota recall list.
Now wait a second! Are you saying that our Government would deliberately lie to us and distract us and stuff?! Again!?! That our American (built in Mexico) cars suck?! Jebus, this changes the way I look at the world!
Now I know it is a witch hunt – Honda is getting the same line of BS – http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6185KZ20100210
