2013 Ford Super Chief

Looks like the design folks at Ford have been having a bit of fun.  Their latest concept the Ford Super Chief is a strange one, not sure if I like it, hate it, or love it.  Either way it is very unique.  The supercharged V10 engine claims to run on hydrogen, gasoline, or E85, only time will tell if this 2013 concept will become reality.  Read on for more pictures, videos, and details.

cool looking vehicle, but lets not call it a truck, think up another name, like ram rod, wind streamer……….
trucks are utility vehicles to assist in hauling things for work purposes. The taligate sucks, you need one hinged at the bottom to help support long items like lumber for instance.

This ain’t a real truck. Not sure what it is………..maybe an SUV on steroids. Will never survive the ranch……nor a mall parking lot where women drivers are present.
    -just sayin’

Yuck that is ugly! Looks like the ugly duckling of Ford trucks. I agree with whoever said above it looks like that thing is on steroids. The tailgate needs to be redone. Old school is where it is at.

not a proper truck design … looks the the chevy avalanche crossed with the tundra’s supercab from 30 years in the future; Doug House is absolutely right

I love this look its new and fresh! Ford needs a change and just like the raptor should be custom ordered… for all you work truck fans. I like the back seat its looks amazing!!

  12. Ford Guy February 13, 2012 at 7:53 am -

Guys, this is a concept truck. It doesn’t mean that all Ford trucks will look like this and have a price tag like this. I did notice one thing about this forum, you guys that speak so highly about bailed out GM can not spell or type a proper sentence to save your lives. Who is going to take advice from dumb people?!?!

  13. STFD RESCUE February 15, 2012 at 8:06 am -

That truck is the ugliest truck in the world it looks gay you are practically killing the ford truck legacy you are a bunch on queers at ford keep making them the way the use to OH Yeah CHEVY SUCKS ASS!

  14. firey pie February 28, 2012 at 4:40 pm -

    that truck is heavenly awsome

  15. Scott March 2, 2012 at 5:17 pm -

Looks like a Honda Ridgeline on steroids. Kinda like it and at the same time kinda dont like it. Edge grill is ok but that swinging tailgate has to go

  16. chris March 13, 2012 at 6:39 am -

i kinda like the look of it but i would like to see it on orignal ford f250 look except with the orginal look it would have the hydrogen and gasoline feature

  17. Bobby Perkins March 15, 2012 at 5:11 pm -

    One question.

How are you supposed to hook up to a Gooseneck trailer?

You’d have to take off the tailgate entirely, am I wrong?
And I personally don’t like the looks of that.

  18. Julia March 27, 2012 at 4:14 am -

Look this is a nice “truck” but it looks like a over stretched, jacked up Cadillac. I do not understand how this “truck” coul help pull anything. Maybe power yes, but it most deff. not the best thing I’ve seen Ford make. It looks like there merging into the “new age”… And Ford is known for their trucks. And I am no where near sastifiyed with this thing called improvement.

  19. MaxQ April 14, 2012 at 1:37 pm -

I really like the look of this truck. It’s a really fresh style. My wife & I both have always driven Chevy trucks and Suv’s. But this is something I would seriously take a look at. One suggestion is to make it Bi-fuel, CNG with Gas or Diesel options. Also, add a Wifi hot spot with maximum cellular wattage allowed by the FCC. This way you can boost your hand held phone’s signal.

  20. tyler April 28, 2012 at 4:28 pm -

cool looking but how nice is it in the inside???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  22. John May 11, 2012 at 6:40 am -

thats the dumbest looking truck i’ve ever seen. people dont want trucks that look like spaceships they want trucks that look like trucks! make a truck that looks like the 80-86 bodystyle!

  23. Mike May 13, 2012 at 9:56 pm -

Josh must be a dumbass liberal Obama but kisser. Hey dumbass, do you know how GM paid the 1st government loan??? It was with our money given to them in the 2nd loan. So shut your frikkin piehole unless you know what you’re talking about.

What ever happened to a real Ford Truck, Stick shift, rubber floor mate, roll up windows and heavey duty suspension, normal size 16″ rims, metal dash board, maintenance freindly for the common hard working middle class folks. Maybe Ford could even put in a small deisel engine for good gas mleage like the one’s there companys over sea’s puts out in the small rangers. It Would even be great to have a better manual transmission the there last one’s.

Owned a Ford all my life, but now wondering if they are not just a very over priced toy instead of a tool.

Thanks Ford, But Consider there are hard working middle class folks out here that dont want to by someone’s used junker just to drive a Ford. Make it simple make it to last and make it tough.
Last Keep the price down so we all can afford your vehicles that we log in Hunt in Work in and Farm in.

    Thanks JW

  26. Matt S. September 9, 2012 at 7:41 pm -

I remember alot of ppl saying the same thing about the 1996 dodge ram. Alot of ppl hated it and thought it was ugle, and now, how many have followed similar design ques?… let ford once again be the symbol of innovation and let the sheep (other companies) follow.

  27. Matt S. September 9, 2012 at 7:45 pm -

Not to mention, it wasn’t design qued after a spaceship, do your research. it was designed after the super chief train engine. it was one powerful train, and with a v10, and fords ingenuity, I bet this will be one tough truck too.

  28. emmett October 19, 2012 at 6:55 am -

    can i buy it ?

  29. Dillon Chaffey October 29, 2012 at 4:53 pm -

This is a wonderful concept and something that I would personally love to drive. However, if I was made to drive on a road which was full of these, there would not even be enough room to breath, let alone open your door. These trucks should definitely be kept well away from urban areas. Additionally, the exhaust gases coming off of a few of these in a centralized area would suffocate people and birds would fall from the sky, dragging trails of fire. The engine, I would argue, is somewhat excessive. A supercharged V6 would have been fine, but a supercharged V10? That should be left for 30 tonne buses and tow trucks (for 15+ cars).

Although, it would be very hard to find a car that was both as good looking and practical as this when it comes to drives across the desert (for those of you who enjoy that). How many kilometres per litre does it get though? My estimate is 1km/L.

  30. Zxuser November 1, 2012 at 2:39 pm -

It’s a good looking truck, period. Have had SUV’s as long as they have made them, just not enough room. So….. Went out and bought a ’12 F 150, added DVD players in the headrest and toneau cover over the bed. Took it on a 5000 mile road trip and was a great way to travel. All you “cowboys” shouldn’t have to worry, this truck is out of most yalls price range anyway. And Ford won’t take away your beloved basic box truck. It is what it is. They may or may not add it to the lineup. Guaranteed there will still have your basic work truck. Times are a changing!! I remember back in the 80’s that it was said in the year 2000 cars/trucks won’t even have wheels. Well, they still do! For those of you who can’t put a sentence together, best not to show your lack of edjamacation on here. Just sayin’

  31. tony January 19, 2013 at 7:08 pm -

ford i have been a die hard fan of your trucks but when you come out with that pice of crap and looks like it to you need to change. come back out with the 7.3 powerstroke and the 2000 up to 2008 body style and take all that flex fuel and all that stuff because its a truck not a smart car get your heads back in the game and back to the number one truck FORD IS THE BEST NEVER REST LIVE LIKE IT AGIAN

  32. Johnnie February 20, 2013 at 10:51 am -

It’s pretty but not functional. Trucks like this seems to more for the “urban” cowboys/girls…the ones who look pretty and nothing more.
I’ll stick with my Bronco XLT.

  33. Bikerbob September 25, 2013 at 2:22 pm -

Truck guys may be right, might not withstand the farm but let’s face it trucks have been morphing every year and every 150, 250 or 350 I have owned but one served it’s purposes well. I’m in…be glad to test drive for a year!

  34. Kyle krauzyk February 16, 2014 at 9:04 pm -

Work on a farm and drive a ford 250 V10 and I’m hear to tell you it will out haul any other truck carry 6000 pound loads all the time and can’t even tell it’s back there. It is definitely not a mud truck front end is way to heavy for mudding it will pull through mud but you better have some good tread on them wheels. This truck has never been in shop for anything other than to get new tires put on and balanced and rotated. This new look sucks though looks like a crapy tundra I like the box look they need to stick with it this new look looks like a pretty boy that lives in a city and doesn’t know what a gravel or dirt road looks like would drive this thing.

Been a ford guy all my life.many chevys and dodges have been pulled and towed by my ford.never had to be towed myself tho.gr8 trucks and I am liking where there designs process is goin.loving the curved lines and body.but I would love it if people commenting on these threads would at least have the education and brains to write a sentence correctly and it make sense. Some of you people just sound absolutely retarded when u are commenting.
