DreamPlug PC Looks Like A Wall Wart… Is An Actual Computer

Posted on Feb 3 2011 - 8:53am by Robby S.

DreamPlug PC Computers continue to shrink, but this one is the smallest I have seen yet.  The DreamPlug PC, by Globalscale Technologies, is a very tiny computer that only sips 5 watts of power and only costs $150.

The DreamPlug PC comes with a 1.2GHz Marvell Sheeva ARM processor, 512MB's of RAM, 1GB microSD for storage, two USB 2.0 ports, two gigabit Ethernet ports, an SD card slot, an eSATA 2.0 port, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a headphone jack.  Don't expect this to replace any of your normal PC computers just yet as there isn't a GPU in this slick little package.  Globalscale Technologies is marketing the DreamPlug computer for use in cloud computing, high end audio systems, security, or home automation type applications.

More pictures of this tiny computer after the break.

Here is what my friend had to say:

Step 1. Display will have to be over Ethernet, doable easily with linux X-windows

Step 2. Load up XBMC or Boxee for linux on this, you have an HTPC.

You could also use this as a firewall as it has 2 nic ports.

MicroSD for extended memory up to 32 GB. Now hook it up to your Netgear NAS

You have unlimited (mostly) Video storage.

Grab DVD Catalyst for 9.99 Registered, Its by FAR the best DVD to Computer File

Convertor. Protected DVD's , spring for AnyDVD which now has a blue-ray de-protector

too. Load the converted files onto the NAS box. All for 5 measly watts.

    I'm getting one.

    Take Care Bud

    God Bless Ya'all
