Can You Recharge Old Alkaline Batteries?

I have been slowly moving over to rechargeable batteries in an effort to eliminate waste and save money.  With that said, the initial cost of rechargeable, AA and AAA, batteries are considerably more than non-rechargeable alkaline batteries.  Throwing away your alkaline batteries after a single use may be a thing of the past now.

Apparently there are a handful of smart alkaline battery chargers that will allow you to recharge standard alkaline batteries up to 80 times.  One such charger is the Vivitar AA/AAA BC-ALK battery charger which will recharge both alkaline and NiMH AA and AAA batteries.

Long story short, spend the $18.89 and quit throwing away your batteries after one use.
