One of the biggest drains on your SmartPhone battery is the beautiful LCD screen. While that won’t change, some smart folks at UCLA may have found a way to charge your phone via the LCD screen.
A group of UCLA engineers led by Yang Yang, a professor of materials science, have found a way to make the polarized LCD sheets into photovoltaic cells. This means the front screen on your phone will have a built PV panel that recaptures energy from your gadgets backlight.
