You can buy ice balls from Glace Luxury Ice for about $5 per ice cube, or you can buy a Cirrus Ice Ball Press ($799) and make your own. Neither option is cheap.
The Cirrus Ice Ball Press, in theory, makes a better ice cube for your high end booze. Why is the 2.75-inch sphere shaped ice ball better? Supposedly you get less surface area and subsequently less water in your drink.
You freeze an ice cup mold, insert this chunk of ice into the Cirrus mold, put the top on and wait about one minute. Taa daa you have an ice ball. Video of the Cirrus Ice Ball Press after the break.
Thanks for mention! Beg to differ on your comment of which is better. More important than ‘shape’ is the quality of the water used to make the ice. With the press, you’re basically putting ‘tap water’ round ice into your fine drink…save yourself the trouble and $799 for a ‘not quite there’ experience.
The Glace Luxury Ice Mariko sphere has been engineered to be the perfect accompaniment to any premium spirit. The ‘zero-taste’TM profile water used to craft each piece makes it possible to have a perfect experience each and every time. By pairing the branded spirit with a branded ‘call’ ice bran, you can now enjoy the same experience world wide.
Thanks!
