The Blackfriars Bridge of London was built in 1886 and is about to get a high-tech upgrade. The bridge will be covered in solar panels making it the “world's largest solar bridge". Work has already begun and should be completed in 2012. The 4,400 solar panels are expected to generate 900,000kWh's of electricity a year and reduce about 511 tons of CO2.
