I recently wrote about my Prosepra TENS Unit which has served me well, but I now have a new TENS gadget that I am using. The Prosepra Electronic Pulse Massager worked just fine, my only gripes are the size (like a TV remote control) and the analog power control wheels.
With that said, I have found a pretty cool replacement TENS unit, the IQ Massager Professional. Read on for more details, pictures, and video.
The IQ Massager costs a bit more than the Prosepra at about $35 here. You have three color choices; pink, silver, and black. The IQ Massager pro looks just like an MP3 player, in fact I get the feeling that they used some left over casings from another MP3 business. On the top of the IQ Massager TENS unit is a mini-USB port for charging the unit (via a wall adapter or USB port on your computer), the bottom of the unit has the power switch and two output ports for the electrode pads (two pads per output). On the front of the unit there are 5 buttons and an lcd screen to show you which of the six modes (and strength level) you are using. The buttons include a timer (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, & 60 minutes), a mode selector (6 modes, one of which is random), and power settings up and down(10 levels of intensity).
The many modes of the IQ Massager make it easy to find a setting that fits just about every muscle group. Some of the settings I like for my back, I don't like for my quads or calf muscles. There is something for everyone. The unit works great at reducing sore muscles and back pain.
The lithium battery is rechargeable from the wall outlet or a computer USB port and lasts for a long time. Not sure how long yet, but have used the unit for about 2 hours without recharging it yet,
The unit comes with two cable sets and four electrode pads. The electrode pads stick very well and should be cleaned with tap water from time-to-time to increase lifetime. The replacement electrode pads are inexpensive as well, you can get 5 sets for about $10 here.
