Apparently when large groups of people come together (concerts, movie showings, etc,), they tend to choke the 3G networks and strain their bandwidth. The Olympic organizers have folks with funny looking wi-fi sniffing antennas running around trying to catch folks using their own wi-fi hotspots. Really?!?
Here is an idea, knowing that a bunch of people will be at the Olympics, and knowing that they will be most likely using their phones for voice and data, why not beef up the service in the area? Spend the money on a solution, or spend it on wi-fi police? Wi-fi police it is.
