MakerBot is one step closer to releasing an affordable 3D scanner with their latest announcement. We now know that they are planning to drop this 3D scanner in the middle of October for $1,400. This 3D CAD modeler and duplicator will make 3D printing much easier and approachable for the masses. It uses a camera and two lasers to scan small items on the front platform. Once the object is digitized you can send it off for 3D printing without even knowing how to tinker with CAD.
