
LEED Platinum homes are still pretty rare as the certification is a tough one to achieve. , The home has to be incredibly efficient and energy friendly. , The BioCasa 82 is Europe’s first LEED Platinum home. , The BioCasa 82 looks small in the picture but it has over 5,000 sqft. , The home was designed by Rosario Picciotto Architechts and build by Welldom builders. , This LEED Platinum home gets 55 percent of its energy from renewable sources.

BioCasa 82 was built just outside of Motebelluna near Venice, Italy. , The home scored 117 points out of a possible 136. , The rating would have been higher if the home wasn’t so rural as the LEED standards tend to favor homes in urban settings. , This beautiful home was build using 99 percent recyclable materials.
Power is aided by solar panels on the roof and there is also a geothermal heat pump system for heating and hot water. , Rain water is stored for domestic and irrigating.
