Royal Caribbean’s newest ship comes with some high tech gadgetry including RFID tags for passengers, fast internet, 80-inch TV’s acting as windows, and a robot bartender. Read on for more details and pictures.
80-inch displays as windows? Yep, if you happen to get a windowless stateroom you may have a large screen TV displaying the live sea view.
The “Bionic Bar” where customers place their orders via a tablet and a robotic bartender mixes the drink. And another robot inspired feature is Two70, a show that uses six Roboscreens that create surprise performances on the fly.
My favorite feature is the RFID wristband check-in process that says it can get guests from “sidewalk to ship” in just 10 minutes. This RFID wristband can also be used to pay for onboard purchase and to unlock your guest room.
There is also fast satellite connectivity. This can be used for their Xbox Live SeaPlex, video chats with those who couldn’t get away from work, or streaming iTunes movies.
The Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas is expected to leave New York City in November and will be headed to Shanghai, China.
