The market for out-of-the-box fully capable quadcopter just got pretty crowded. This is great news for the consumers of these gadgets as the pricing is starting to get more reasonable. Or at least the feature sets are matching the prices. The latest announcement in the video camera quadcopter arena comes from 3D Robotics (3DR) with their Solo Quadcopter.
The 3DR Solo ($999) wants to give you a fully loaded platform that is simple to use. The Solo includes a video game styled transmitter, a 3-axis gimbal, GPS flight management, clever software for camera and copter control. You will need to add your own GoPro (Hero 3, 3+, or 4) camera and a tablet or smartphone for live streaming.
Now there are 3 great competitors with similar features all under $1,500 dollars –
- DJI Phantom 3 (Advanced Version – $999, Professional Version – $1,259)
- Yuneec Q500 Typhoon ($1,299)
- 3DR Solo ($999)
