Apple just did the thing the rumor mill has been yelling about for years: a real foldable iPhone. The iPhone Duo is a book-style flip with a pocketable cover screen and, when you open it, the largest iPhone display Apple has ever shipped. It is thin, titanium, and priced like a small used car that somehow also FaceTimes.
Headline numbers from Apple: a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner OLED (nano-texture, crease-taming flex layers) paired with a 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR. Both get Dynamic Island, Always-On, ProMot
Colors are restrained on purpose: Night Sky and Star White, with a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, Ceramic Shield front and back, scratch-resistant coating on the inner panel, and IP68 water/dust resistance. Closed it is about 4.64 x 3.31 x 0.44 inches; open it stretches to roughly 6.48 x 4.64 x 0.21 inches. Weight: 254 g either way – folding physics, not a cheat code.
Software flexes unique to Duo: Smart Take (it snaps when the group is ready), Duo Preview (live outer-display previews), Kid Cue animations, and Duo FaceTime for group chaos. Video goes up to 4K with high frame-rate options on the main cam. This is not the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable-aperture flex – if you buy Duo for cinematic glass bragging rights, you bought the wrong flex.
iOS 27 on a hinge: Split View and posable FaceTime
Software is half the product. Outer controls slide to the side, inner apps can run side by side, orientations adapt when you tent or landscape the thing, and hands-free FaceTime is a first-class citizen because the phone can stand on its own. Siri AI rides along in English with the usual usage-limit footnotes. If you wanted “iPad Lite that fits in a jeans pocket,” Apple is daring you to try.

Skip it if you need Pro-grade telephoto/variable-aperture photography, hate fingerprints on huge glass, or your budget thinks $1,999 should buy a laptop and a phone. Quick specs card
-
- Displays: 7.6-inch inner + 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR OLED; ProMotion; Always-On; up to 3000 nits outdoor
- Chip: A20 Pro, vapor chamber
- Cameras: 48MP Dual Fusion (Main + Ultra Wide), 12MP Center Stage + under-display FaceTime
A20 Pro, dual batteries, and all-day claims
Under the titanium: vapor-cooled A20 Pro (6-core CPU with two super cores, 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, dual 16-core Neural Engine), Apple’s C2 modem, N1 wireless chip, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread, UWB, 5G (including mmWave on the US model), and dual active eSIM. MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging top out around 25W; wired USB-C can hit about 50% in roughly 20 minutes with a meaty enough adapter.
Battery story is an iPhone-first dual-cell design. Apple’s video-playback claims: up to 31 hours on the inner display, up to 44 hours on the outer, with typical use around 24 hours. Your mileage will vary the moment you open Netflix in bed and forget to close it.
Biometrics skip Face ID. Touch ID lives in the side button, so unlock works closed or open without inventing a forehead-cam geometry puzzle. Apple Pencil (USB-C) support is confirmed for the Duo’s displays, landing later this year – bring your doodles, leave the calligraphy ego at customs.
Cameras: Dual Fusion, Duo tricks, no dedicated telephoto glass
The rear rig is a 48MP Dual Fusion setup: Fusion Main (26 mm, ƒ/1.6, sensor-shift OIS) and Fusion Ultra Wide (13 mm, ƒ/2.2, 120°), plus optical-quality 2x from the main sensor (52 mm equivalent). Up front you get a 12MP Center Stage cover camera and an under-display FaceTime shooter on the inner panel for that uninterrupted movie slab.
ion up to 120Hz, and outdoor peaks up to 3000 nits. Unfolded, Apple says that inner canvas is about 50% larger than an iPhone 18 Pro Max – which is either “finally, movies without postage-stamp vibes” or “my bag just became a filing cabinet,” depending on your hobbies.
