At first glance I was a bit excited…. after all CNN and the Montel Williams show are talking about this new gadget, the S-XGen from Seamless Wi-Fi. If you close your eyes (very important you do this) and just think about the specs, it sounds pretty good (don’t open your eyes!). The S-XGen has a keyboard, Intel processor, 20GB drive, TFT touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cell phone, ethernet, USB port, SD Slot, GPS, webcam, speakers, and runs Microsoft Mobile 6.0 with office preinstalled. Sounds like a laptop with a cell phone glued on the side, right?
Now the funny part (open your eyes) this device, sorry can’t think of a better word, weighs a full pound, is bigger than most hamburgers, horrible product name, and has the funniest commercial I have seen in a while. By the way if you plan on going to the S-XGen website, turn down your speakers… they still think annoying sounds on a website are cool. Maybe this combination is why their stock is on the (SMWF.OB) OTC Bulletin Board for pennies?
I believe that this type of convergence is the way things will ultimately go… we’re just not there yet.
LOL, Seventies called and want their music back! Reminds me of the original “cutting edge” brick sized cell phones.
I guess if you dont mind the heft it could be a decent laptop alternative? Would like to see actual web browsing. Sure makes the iphone look small though doesn’t it. I know you have to compare apples to apples. Ha, I made a funny.
Sooo, on this device, where does the dot-matrix paper stream from and where do I park my Buick? And where is the handcrank incase it runs out of atomic power? Is some kind of a sick One Computer per Child thingie?
I actually feel a bit bad for beating up on this product… but were just not there yet!
One word – fugly.
I like reading posts related to it like S-XGen (Not So) Mini-Mobile Computer Cell Phone | GadgetKing.com and what people think. I will keep an eye on the information you will add and see what you come up with. thank you
This thing is vaporware. Why not just get an ASUS EEE unit? It works and it doesn’t suck.
