Ernst Giselbrecht Building

An idea, a world's first I think, that makes sense.  A building that has a facade that transforms dynamically based on the time of day to conserve energy.  Designed by Ernst Giselbrecht + Partner, the building is made of electronic aluminum shutters that move to allow/block sun light.  Cool video of the building in action after the break.

    Not quite “a world's first”

The The Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) or Arab World Institute (AWI), in English, opened in 1987 in Paris.

The south facing wall has photoelectric controlled moucharabiehs, windows, opening and closing regulating light. However the photoelectric failed and they now run on a timer.
