The Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter ($155) is not just a tiny remote control copter, it also sports a 640 x 480 resolution camera with a live stream back to the controller. Yep, you can watch the video from the perspective of the quadcopter on the 4.3-inch LCD screen built-in to the transmitter.
Sounds great, right? Well I almost had my wallet out of the pocket until I learned some details from reading product reviews. The video is recorded at a strange resolution- 720 x 240. Not a deal breaker as I could run it through a converter to get something more standard like 720 x 480. The deal breaker, for me, is that the video isn't recorded on the camera side of the signal, it is recorded on a Micro SD card in the controller. This means if you have a weak video signal and get signal distortion that will be displayed on the recorded video as well. Not sure why they chose this path. While the DJI Phantom 2 is a much different beast altogether they record the video pre-stream at the source. Video of the Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter after the break.
