The team at Ryobi, known for tools, has focused their design chops on the boring garage door opener. They took something that was generally ignored and expected to “just work” and massively improved it. A bit like the Coolest Cooler.
The Ryobi Modular Garage Door Opener starts off by improving the obvious features. There is an ultra-quiet 2-hp motor, a steel reinforced belt drive, LED lighting with motion sensors, WiFi connectivity with smartphone application for remote control from anywhere, HomeLink compatibility, a backup battery for normal use during power outages (up to 100 open/closes), multiple remotes, and a digital keypad. Then they started added cool features in the form of modular add-ons like a retractable extension cord, fan, carbon dioxide detector, laser parking assist, and a bluetooth speaker. I haven’t been this excited about a garage door in quite sometime. Looking forward to getting my hands on one for a detailed installation/replacement review.
