Paul Allen, cofounder of Microsoft, has been busy with his airplane project, Stratolaunch. This monster airplane started back in 2011 and while photos are starting to emerge the plane is still grounded. Burt Rutan, aerospace engineer, has gotten the plane this far but has yet to take it on a test flight.
The Stratolaunch has a 285-foot wingspan, six 747 jet engines, 26 wheels, and can carry 250,000 pounds of fuel. The name hints at the purpose which is for low earth orbit flights and launching rockets into space. Eventually the Stratolaunch will be taking 1,000 pound satellites into space.
